[Then Kyouko leaned back casually, popping open a fresh back of chips from her pocket, remembering how sheI beat those stuck up bitches up. They deserved it, the way they were trash talkin Mami like that! She snacked on some chips, not ready to drop the air of a delinguent she had long adopted in public. Really, Mami didn't have to bribe those scum to drop the charges. She's gptten ahead of cops before, and she still could. but, she wasn't alone now...

" Madoka giggled as she played with Bebe on Mami's lap, she was so cute!] "That would be wonderful, Mami sempai!"
[Sayaka wasn't listening, and was looking at the box curiously, thinking of the witches, the mini world she unintentionally created and almost stayed in, of Miku's fall and transformation.... Finally, she made a desion.] "Madoka. .."[shehugged Madoka] "I'm going to try something. If things go wrong, well...]
"Sayaka?"
"Youre my best friend.] Mami Sempai, thank you for everything. Kyouko, i'm sorry for the stuff between us. And, tell Kyousuke I'm sorry..."
[Kyouko blinked, then reached out for Sayaka] "Wait, what are you!
[And then she took out her soul gem, took a deep breath , and dropped it into the music box. An shock of icy feeling shot through her, and she gasped. the soul gem shook, tendrils of energy and whisps of darkness lacing it, almost becoming a grief seed.but it didn't,a lmost a mix. Sayaka could hear her own voice in her head, and cried out in paun, as she transformed intp a mermaid, fishtail, fins and scales included

[A week before Mami brought the old house and onsen]

[Mami had gone back to her apartment after planning stuff with her lawyer for about an hour and a half, feeling much better about things in general. Oh, she didn't want to spend that much money just to make her uncle and aunt back off for a bit, but on the other hand, it wasn't like she was going to live long enough to run out of the money she had left, she didn't think...]

[...She was worried about what would happen to the little ones if she died first, though.]

...I'm home! Thanks for all the babysitting, Madoka-san, Sayaka-san -

[She'd said with a smile as she opened the door - And then, her jaw dropped open as she saw what was happening. Kyoko was clutching a half-mermaid Sayaka in her arms, while Madoka had a handkerchief wrapped around her face, and was currently trying to pull something about of the Music Box Thing with a pair of cooking tongs!]

...Ha ha ha ha ha! Ya humans are amazing sometimes, Tomoe Mami - I never thought anybody would just stick their Soul Gem in the Music Box Thing like that!

[Seven said, grinning. Eight, in the meanwhile, was facepalming up a storm.]

...Kaname Madoka, be careful!

- I know, I know, I'm not touching it directly, OK!?

[Madoka said, and then she smiled under the handkerchief on her face as she managed to fish Sayaka's Soul Gem out of the box, and managed to put it on some hastily put down newspapers!]

[A large gust of magic came flying out of Sayaka's Soul Gem, which was now almost halfway like a Grief Seed - And then, Sayaka herself started to slowly turn back into her normal human shape.]

...Did it work?

[Madoka said dazedly, and then looked at Seven and Eight.]

[Seven snickered again.]

- Danged if we know, Madoka-chan - It's not like we saw anybody try anything like this before, ha ha ha -

[And kyouko, still holding the dazed sayaka, snarled at Seven and summoned her spear] "You little creeep!!!"
"Kyouko chan, wait!" [Madoka picked up seven and eight in her arms protectively] "They're not like Kyubey! They're on our side! They're the ones who gave Mami sempai the music box!"
"Oh yeah?" [Kyoukowas still dubious]
[Mami finally sna[[ed out of her shock and ran over in worry] "Whhat just happened!"
"Sayaka put her gem in that box, and things started freakin out, and she turned into a mermaid and, and i dunno!" [Kyouko was a bit frightened]
[Eight came over and gently examined Sayaka's now modified soul gem] "Hm. It seems to have been interlaced with some of the witch energies that lie deep within her, there for drawing out her witch side somewhat, making a fusion or half transformation of sorts... Don't worry, she's still Sayaka Miki. there's just a bit of her witch self out now, most likely pacified."
[And Sayaka groaned and eventually came to. She was back to human shape now, with a few scales remaining and her eyes still silver.] "Ow... what, happened...?"
[Bebe bounced up to her, babbling. Sayaka realized she could now udnerstand her.]

[Aand Kyoko stared at Sayaka, took a deep breath, and picked up a nearby magazine about teas and cakes, rolling it up in her hand.]

- You acted like an idiot, that's what happened!

[Mami and Madoka's mouths both dropped open, then, as Kyoko smacked Sayaka in the head with the rolled up magazine!]

...Ouch! Come on, Kyoko - We're not on stage and this isn't a comedy skit!

- I wonder, sometimes.

[Kyoko said with a sigh, and then, she tossed the rolled up magazine on a nearby sofa.]

[The little Witches, on the other hand, were clapping their hands or the equivelent, and giggling up a storm.]

Sayaka is an idiot, Sayaka is an idiot!

Ha ha ha, yes yes! ....But on the other hand, Sayaka is now halfway an Okty! Which is good! Right?

[Sayaka glared at them, and then sighed the the memories of what she'd done came back to her.]

...Well, that probably wasn't the sanest thing to do, true.

[And then, she smiled again.]

- I feel much better about things in general, though, now, oddly enough...

[Seven, in the meanwhile, was still in Madoka's arms.]

...Thanks for tryin' to protect us, Kaname Madoka! We do appreciate it.

[He said, looking up at her with his amber-red eyes.]

[Madoka nodded, and then gave him a scratch behind his mussy-haired ears. She then paused, thinking.]

- This may sound like a strange question, Seven, but - Do you like being hugged and cuddled and having your fur patted and stuff like that?

[Seven grinned at her, then.]

...I do indeed, and so does Eight!

[He snickered, then.]

- And so does Niner, for the record, but he really doesn't want to admit it, I think - It's a sign of emotional contamination and all that, you see...

[Eight just nodded in agreement, feeling content as Mami picked him up ]
"thank you , Mami..." [Still so much like Marianna.... he paused when he noticed her soul gem ring, sensing something off about it...] "Mami, may I see your soul gem please?"

[Sayaka sighed tiredly and leaned against Kyouko] "Sorry about this..."
"Baka..." [Kyouko poked her scaly cheeks] '"I should call you a fishy baka now!"
"hm. Guess you're right.." [Sayaka scratched at the scales remaining on her legs, wincing as she tried to pull one out] "Ow!"
"Oh, don't worry Sayaka!" [Madoka said beside her, patting her leg[ "I'm sure we can hide that with make up. And use some contact lenses for your eyes!"
"What's wrong with my eyes?"
"Well, they're silver now."

...Sure, Eight - I don't mind.

[Mami said, and held out her Soul Gem to Eight with a smile.]

- I don't think there's anything wrong with it, though - I'm feeling so much better these days, after all!

[And on the other side of the room...]

...Cripes! Oh, come on, I can't wear contacts all the time, they make my eyes itch -

[Sayaka groaned.]

And I don't think I could do anything about these scales, even with stage makeup, Kyoko...

[That was when Seven laughed, and held out something that looked like a small hand mirror toward her.]

- Then I think this is ya lucky day, Miki Sayaka, as I have just the thing for you!

[Sayaka took the hand mirror thing and opened it, looking at her face.]

...Haaah? Oh, no, my eyes really are silver...And my poor ears are so pointy and scale-y!

[Seven grinned, and pointed at the hand mirror thing.]

- OK, then - And now, just look at your face in the mirror, and try to visualize it the way you want it to be! That thing is supposed to make it easier for people to put illusion magics on themselves, you see...

[Seven hopped up to Sayaka, then, wondering if it would work.]

...It's just a illusion, and it'll probably be blown away if you use any strong magic or if any strong magic hits you, but on the other hand, it doesn't eat up too much energy, so that should be a plus, right?

[Eight just took the soul gem in his extended ears and sensed it. He frowned, feeling the witch energies inscribed on it. It felt similar to what was on sayaka's gem , but diffewrent. and he cluld definetely sense Kyubey;s handiwork on it.] "This is not good... not good at all///"
"What is wrong?

"Um, thanks." [Sayaka accepted it and looked in, trying to turn herself bakc] "How do you keep coming up with these tools and all?"
"We're extra terresitals from an advanced societ and technoologuy. Duh!" [Seven said]

[Eight poked at Mami's Soul Gem with his ears, then, thinking.]

...Well, hmmm. I'm afraid Niner must have been experimenting with something again, because some of those energy lines here in your Soul Gem are rather atypical for a Magical Girl, to say it mildly, but on the other hand -

[And then, he looked at Mermaid Sayaka and her strangely transformed Soul Gem again, his amber-red eyes impassive.]

- But on the other hand, your Soul Gem is almost normal compared to Miki Sayaka's, so that's saying something, I suppose. And I don't think tampering with it even more right now is exactly a good idea either, so...

[He then handed Mami her Soul Gem back, and smiled up at her, just slightly fakely.]

.....You did say you were feeling better about things, correct?

[Mami beamed back at him, utterly geniuinely.]

- Oh, yes! It's almost like I've become a new person in some ways - I mean, I dreamed about my parents yesterday, and it didn't hurt at all! Not even a bit!

[And then Mami smiled, wistfully.]

...We were about to go on our trip, except that I was older now in the dream, the age I'm now I think, and I still wanted to go to the Tea Convention and everything, but this time, we made it! There was no accident whatsoever!

[And then, she took a sip of her tea again, beaming.]

...And I didn't even cry after I woke up, either. It was great!

[Kyoko looked at her, then, her eyebrows raising.]

- Hey, really?

[And then, she grinned and came over, smacking Mami's arm.]

...Good for you, Mami!

[And in the meanwhile, Sayaka had used the Handmirror Thing, and had managed to put a magical illusion on herself.]

...Hah, yeah, it is just an illusion, I can still feel my scales after all -

[She said, touching her face with a grin, and then she turned toward the rest of the girls.]

.......Hey, everybody - How'd I look now, eh?

But what was kyubey trying to accompludh with this anyway? Was it just simple curiosity?) " but are you not concerened? Subce now you know how kyubey deceived you..."
( but mami did not hear that. She already was making plans for the trip)
" you look lovely sayaka!" Madokachirped
" yeah, the same stupid looking blue head." ( kyouko stuck her tongue out playfully)
( sayaka bopped the redhead on the head and webt over to the map mami was looking at) " hey i recognize that area! Kyousukes family has a house there"

[Eight sighed, and then smiled a bit, changing the subject for now.]

...Hey, Tomoe Mami! We're being invited to this little trip of yours you're apparently planning, too, right?

- Of course you are! You Incubators do love your baths, and this place has a real bona fide Onsen, right next to the house!

[Mami said with a smile, and then turned around.]

...Hey, Kyubey? You're coming too, right?

[A rather horrified silence filled the room, then.]

........Mami-san?

[Madoka said, sweatdropping. Mami stared at her for a moment, and then patted her own head, her expressions changing too fast for a normal human to see properly.]

- Oh, right - We weren't on speaking terms with that creep anymore, ha ha ha...

[And then, she grinned and raised her voice.]

...Since I'm pretty sure you're listening in somehow - Yes, it's a real Onsen, Kyubey and you're not being invited!

[And then, she sneered.]

- Eight is, and so is Seven, and so are all my other friends, but you don't get invited to my parties anymore, Kyubey, because you're not my friend anymore.

[Mami's eyes dropped, then, and she sighed.]

...And you never really were my friend to begin with, right?

( snd kyubey appeared on the windowsill then) " if you mean by the human definition of friend, then yes, i was , mami. Though you humans always make the conxept. Quite complicated."
( all the girls stiffened at his artival. Kyouko snarled and took out her spear)
" ya hot a lotta nerve showin your furry face here, creep!"
( mami just looked disappointed and sipped her tea, not stopping bebe as she shrieked in anger and went into worm form and devpured kyubey. Kyubey sinply regenerated and walked up to seven and eight."
" so. I have finally caught ip to you, models seven and eight. So you were meddling in my projects afterall."

Seven and Eight both rolled their eyes at the Kyubey talking to them, then.]

...Well, of course we were! Meddlin' is what we do, remember?

[Seven said with a snort.]

[And in the meanwhile, yet another Kyubey was busy eating what was left of the dead Kyubey body Bebe had spat out, while a third one went up to Mami.]

- It is a pity that I am not being invited, however, as it is true that I did enjoy many of the things I did with you.

[He said with a cute and empty smile. Mami stared at him over her teacup, and sighed, then.]

...You really mean that, don't you? You poor, empty thing...

[Kyoko, in the meanwhile, was staring at the Kyubeys, too. She put her spear away with a groan, then.]

- Oh, go away, ya creeps - I've got enough on my plate without having to feel sorry for the likes of you!

[And that was when Madoka took a deep breath, and grabbed a Kyubey by the scruff of his neck.]

[Aand then, she began to chuck the Kyubeys out of the window, one by one!]

[Sayaka grinned, then, and grabbed the last Incubator.]

- Aaand here's the last one!

[She said, and then she chucked it out of the window, too.]

...OK, then! Back to planning our vacation!

[She said, closing the windown and locking it.]

[Mami nodded.]

...OK, then. First, we'll take an special express from Mitakihara Station...

[Kyoko, in the meanwhile, had stuck her head out of another window, and was now snickering at the Incubators milling around on the ground. The Incubators didn't seem to be hurt at all, however, and were now looking up at the window, red eyes glittering.]

...Go away and stay away now, all right? You're not wanted here!

[One of the Kyubeys raised it's paw, then.]

- We can't really do that, I'm afraid, but we'll try not to bother you during your vacation in the meanwhile -

[And then, it grinned up at her, it's grin not at all empty, all of a sudden.]

- But if you need us, all you have to do is call, all right? We'll be there in a jiffy, ha ha ha!

[And then, the white critters were disappeared, all at once. Kyoko sighed as she shut the window.]

...Those creeps are never going to just let us be, are they? Cripes.

- They probably wouldn't, but never mind!

[Seven said with a laugh - And then, Eight sighed a bit, looking at Mami.]

.....Quite true, but we should enjoy the trip while we can, methinks.

[And then, Seven grinned and poked Eight.]

- Oh, come on, it'll be fun! Especially since we don't have to hide anymore. I mean, our cover is blown already, ha ha ha -

[And Eight smiled a bit, then, though he still seemed to be a bit sad.]

...I suppose so. When you're right, you're right.

[And a week later...]

[Saturday had come, which meant it was time to go on their trip.]

[Mami, the little Witches, Madoka, Sayaka, Kyoko, Seven and Eight had all gathered together, and went into the special express. The little Witches were hidden in the big basket Mami was carrying, while Seven and Eight were doing their usual "see me not" thing.]

[Kyoko grinned as a woman in a uniform came along pushing a cart.]

...Ohhh, frozen mikan! Give us two bags of that, OK?

" ok" ( kyouko paid her. Ok it was easier now since she was staying with mami, though decided to stay at sayaks home for a. While since mami had her hands full with the mini witches, plus kyouko was a bit worried about sayaka. Sayaka seemed to be doing fine, and the illusion was holding up for the most part, but still...
Anyway it was gopd to have a bit of money on hand mow. Though old habits did die hard and sayaka and mami had to smack her for thieving.
Mami in her seat was sowing a new dress for bebe. The mini witches lay dormant in their grief seeds in the basket, except for bebe, who was trying to wriggle out to be with mami, and was that a whiff of a cheese sandwich she smelled?"

[Madoka clapped her hands with glee, then, as the train cart lady showed them a colorful menu showing them all the different local bentos they were selling.]

...Yaaay - I'll get the beef and vegetables with mini onigiris made of ancient purple rice and mixed grains and beans, thanks!

...Ancient...???

[Kyoko blinked, and checked out the menu. Oh, of course she'd known about the recent popularity of really old kinds of rice, she didn't live under a rock after all, but she'd never eaten any herself.]

- I've never eaten purple rice before. Is it good?

...Dad buys it sometimes - He says it's a little bit more nutrious then most modern rices, probably, and he thinks the people producing heirloom rice as doing a good job, so he thinks it's worth it even if it's a bit expensive.

[Madoka said, and then grinned at Kyoko.]

- Do you want to try a bit of mine? I don't mind...

...Yeah, I'd like that.

[Kyoko said, and looked around at her friends.]

- Say, everybody? Why don't we all buy different bentos, so we can all share?

...That sounds like a good idea!

[Sayaka laughed, and so the girls all brought different bentos. Mami got a bento for herself and a extra pack of cheese sandwiches for Bebe. She also got an extra bento for Seven and Eight.]

" so the girls continued on to enjoy their lunches as the train traveked on. After a couple more hours, they finally arrived to the countryside town near the house, and from there they took a taxi to the house up in the hills. It was a charming western styled cottage.
Madoka squealed as they approached) " oh! How adorable!"
( sayaka saw one of the large houses on s neighboring hill, recognizing it as kyousukes"
" all right now, there are three bedrooms." ( mami as saying as they unpacked the luggage from the taxi)

[Kyoko, in the meanwhile, had just dumped her rucksack on a spare sofa, and had gone out to explore the area around the cottage.]

...Hey, Mami! I just found this little path going up the mountain with a sign with a onsen mark on it, I think?

[Mami poked her nose out of the cottage, and grinned.]

- Oh, yes - The onsen itself is up the path over there. It's pretty nice, with a gazebo and everything -

[And then, she sighed a bit.]

Or it was pretty nice when I went there with my family, about 7 years ago, anyhow. I have no idea if anybody has been doing maintenace properly, I'm afraid...

[Kyoko giggled at that.]

...Don't worry, Mami, we all know how to clean stuff up, I'm pretty sure!

[Mami nodded at that with a smile, while Bebe clapped her hands.]

< It's an onsen! It's an onsen! >

[And then, Mami looked around the cottage, and took up a map.]

...Hey, everybody? Going to the onsen is all right, but please don't try to get up the path leading up the mountain from the other side of the onsen all by yourselves, OK? That path leads to the really old and big house I told you about before, and it's been years and years since anybody even tried cleaning the place, I'm afraid...

[Sayaka grinned at that.]

- Oh, yeah, I thought this cottage looked much too modern to be the house you were talking about before!

[Madoka grinned, too.]

...This place is really nice, though - I'm glad we didn't have to stay at the old house, honestly.

[Mami smiled at that.]

- Oh, yes, I was so relieved when I saw that this cottage was included in the stuff my stupid uncle and aunt forced me to buy, ha ha ha...

[Sayaka and Madoka sweatdropped at that. Mami's uncle and aunt had what?]

[Kyoko, in the meanwhile, was sweatdropping for quite a different reason.]

...Mamiiii! Come onnnn, this is not the place or the time to talk about stuff like that!

[And Eight went up to her, too, with a somewhat sad smile.]

- She's right, Mami - You came here to have fun with your friends, right?

[Mami paused a bit, then.]

...Oh, you're right, I suppose - Thanks, Eight-chan.

[And then, she picked him up in her arms and gave him a pat on his head. Eight stared for a moment, and then gave her an affectionate headbutt back, while Seven sighed, waving his paws.]

[Kyoko and the rest of the girls sighed in relief, then, and went on to unpack. Mami had looked pretty damn scary for a moment, for whatever reason...]

- Ahem. OK, then - We're gonna start heading toward the onsen in, say, 15 minutes! Is that OK with you people, everybody?

[Madoka said with a smile.]

[And in the meanwhile, on a path on the mountain nearby...]

[Two blond teenagers dressed in pants, a t-shirt and a jacket where looking up at the skies.]

...Rin?

[Len said, and looked at his map, sighing.]

- Don't you think it's about time you admitted we're sort of lost now? I mean, I have no idea where the hotel we're staying is supposed to be, anymore...

" rifht!" ( with that, they headed off to their rooms. with only a few bedrooms in the cottage, mami had somehypw arranged it for sayaka and kyouko to room togwther again. Bebe ran arpund the halls giggling in excitement.

" you knucklehead!" ( rin conked len on the head and continued on with a huff. Len sighec and shook his head, but was smiling. It was good to have his sister back again. There was no peep of this supposed other personality recently, or that kyubey. Rin fidn't seem to have memories of this magical girl bysiness either. Good. He stoll missed miku though...

[On the path on the way to the onsen]

[Madoka and her friends were now all heading toward the onsen in a group, giggling and laughing. They all had little bags filled with towels, soaps, shampoos and other things they needed, as they had no idea if the onsen would be stocked with such things or not.]

...No, no, Eight, Seven - The Gazebo Onsen is actually divided into Woman's Baths and Men's Baths, from what I remember, and you two are going to go to the Men's Baths, no ifs or buts!

[Mami said, laughing, as they walked.]

- But Mami - We ain't even human, remember?

[Seven protested with a laugh. Mami laughed back, and then poked him with her finger.]

...Sure you're not, but you're still both male, sort of, and you can even transform into humanoids when you feel like it, correct?

[Kyoko laughed at that, too.]

...Damn right, critters - You go to your side, and we stay on our side, OK? Ha ha ha!

[And then, she made a mini version of her Spear pop up in her hands, and brandished it at the rogue Incubators, snickering.]

- Fine, fine, whatever you say, everybody...

[Eight said with a shrug, and then, he perked up, waving his paw in the air.]

...You girls would still brush our fur later, right?

[On the mountain path]

[Rin kept on walking, mumbing something under her breath - And that was when she caught sight of a nice looking onsen down the side of the mountain, with a very pretty gazebo!]

...Hey, Len, did you see that?

[She said with a grin, pointing at the onsen - And then, she started walking down one of the side paths heading in the onsen's direction, humming to herself.]

[Len followed her, feeling like humming himself - And then, he sighed a bit. Oh, if only Miku could have been with them now! He pictured her walking besides them in a hiking outfit, her beautiful green hair flowing behind her...]

...Oh, Miku, I miss you so much...

[He whispered, and wiped at his eyes with his sleeve. He didn't want Rin to realize he was upset about anything, after all - Especially since he really couldn't figure out how much she remembered about Miku's final concert at all.]

[Back on the path on the way to the onsen]

[Mami blinked, then, as a keening sound came out of the basket she was carrying.]

...Kirsten Elly? Is that you?

[She said, and then she carefully reached into the basket, and picked the Mini-Witch up. The other Mini Witches were now looking rather upset, too, and trying to climb out of the basket, sometimes stepping on each other.]

< Kirsten Elly sad! So so sad! >

- What's wrong, my darling? Why are you so upset?
