[The two Kyubeys looked at each other, then, exchanging thoughts and images. It was too bad that Miki Sayaka's mini-world wasn't really stable enough for them to consider moving at least part of their operation into it on a semi-permanent basis, but they probably could get some useful data from this little debacle, anyway.]
- Of course, there is the not so minor problem that you might fall to despair anyway, or just plain run out of enough energy to sustain the mini-world, but whatever, whatever - That doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon, in either case!
[The other Kyubey said, then - And then, they both turned around, and looked toward Madoka, their red eyes glittering. Exploring the possibilities of those mini-universes the Puella Magi sometimes produced was interesting and important in it's own right, they were pretty sure, but for now, dealing with Kaname Madoka was much higher on their priority list.]
[And that was when there was a cough, and Rin arrived on the scene.]
...Hey, you, bluehead. I do appreciate you sending my Mom back home, I must admit, but -
[And then, she gestured toward the blonde boy coming up just behind her.]
- Couldn't you send my brother home as well?
[Len glared at her, then, and also glared at the other girls there as well for good measure.]
...Don't you dare, Rin! And the rest of you, as well!
[And inside Kirsten Elly's little box space...]
[The two Familiars looked at each other, their ball joints clacking.]

"And where's Miku?" Len asked
"Looks like she's sulking right over there." Kyouko pointed.
Len nodded and ran over, looking inside the box "Miku?"
",,,Len..." she monaed, not looking up at him "I'm sorry about this...
"It's ok. Its not your fault."
"You shoulld get away form me... I'm a witch now...I coul hurt you...

[Sayaka, in the meanwhile, was sitting down on the floor again, as she suddenly got dizzy again. Why did she keep feeling so faint, all of a sudden? It was like something was draining her energies away by the truckload or something!]
[Miku / Elly gently hugged Len back, and then moved away from him.]
- I think - I think I should -
[And then, her face dropped.]
...Being a Witch is really horrible, Len - It's like being trapped in a nightmare of your own making that never goes away...
[And then, she reached up with a jointed hand, and patted his face.]
- Don't ever make a Contract and become a Magical Boy, Len. OK?
[And in the meanwhile...]
[Rin was biting her lip. If only there was a way to actually turn Miku back into a normal human girl...]
[But she'd seen people who tried to do that too in her past life, and it had never worked in the way they'd wanted it to.]
[And that was when a voice started up in her head. Rin shook her head.]
...Huh? Oh, Eight? Yeah, I do remember you, but...
[And then, she blinked.]
- You gave Tomoe Mami a what!?
[And then, she spun around. Oh, she had no idea if using any version of the Music Box Thing was the right thing to do, to be honest, but - Where the heck was the Tomoe girl, anyway!?]

"Good..." she smiled sadly. She could hear the witch speak nearby, an could understand ut. Huh, there were witches nearby here?
the little pink plushie witch totddled up to her, looking at her curiously.
Miku blinked, and responded in the witch language ]"I remember you. I fought and defeated you before, didn't I? I'm, soryr about that. now that I know who you really are. Though what are you doing here?"
"Bebe, please don't run off like that." Mami walked up, pointing her rifle at Miku/Kirsten Elly. She nodded at Len "get away from the witch!"
"Wait, you don't understand!" Len stood in front of the witch protectively "Don't hurt her! It's Miku!

- Much better.
[Sayaka mumbled, and then looked up at Kyoko, getting a bit red in the face.]
...Um. Thanks, Kyoko - I think?
[And in the meanwhile, Rin was groaning a bit. The blue haired girl was using up even more of her magic to make herself feel better, wasn't she?]
[But then, she turned away - Having the bluehead comatouse on the floor wasn't going to help anybody survive this mess, after all. Sometimes, people really did need a magical pick me up, in her personal experience...]
[And in the meanwhile, Mami was almost spluttering as she glared at Len.]
...What in the world are you talking about? That's - That's a Witch! How could she be Hatsune Miku?
[But then, she shuddered a bit when she remembered something Madoka had said. Something about...something about Magical Girls turning into Witches...]
[She shook her head, then, frantically, and pushed the errant thought out of her mind. She didn't have time to be distracted by nonsense like that now, she really, really didn't...]

[Kyouko sighed] "Because I was wrong... The truth is, you remind me, of how I used to be. In my early days as a magical girl, I was wide eyed and hopeful, I fought for love and justice and all that, and wanted to make a world a better place. I remember now, how good that felt...]" [mournfully, she finally recounted to Sayaka her backstory and what happened with her family and the tragegy that occurred. Sayaka listened intently, unsure of what to say.]
[Meanwhile, Mami lifted her rifle and aimed it again at the witch] "You must be affected by the witch's illusions. So step away!"
"No, I won't let you hurt her!" [Len stood in defiance, defending Miku/Kirsten Elly.]
[The twin familiars chittered and swooped down in attack towards Mami]

Date: 2015-11-23 06:46 am (UTC)[Rin sighed, then. So what was she supposed to not do? Tell Tomoe about the Magical Girls becoming Witches thing? ...And why was the pink haired girl still here, since she didn't seem to be a Magical Girl at all, yet? Though with all that potential magic...]
[And then, she took a good hard look at the pink haired girl, and then at the Incubators who were watching them. Oh, so that was why the stupid red-eyes were throwing all caution to the wind this time! The girl had so much potential that some of the energies were leaking out of her even without a Contract.]
[Rin looked around them, them. The rest of them seemed to be mostly Magical Girls, though the young man in a I love Miku T-shirt was still here with his baton in his hands, staring at the stage forlornly.]
[...All right, then. Rin took a deep breath, and tapped Mami on the shoulder.]
- Hey, look - I think you should be thinking about other things for now, all right? If you don't want to believe that that Witch is Hatsune Miku, fine.
[And then, she pointed at Mami's bags.]
...But for now, I want you to lend me that Music Box Thing you have in there. OK?

[homura nodded in response] "so. you know the truth now?"
"I heard Kyubey saying it himself. and then I saw it happen to Miku Hastune..." [she sighed] "Listen, Madoka. I'm sorry, but I have to stay here. Where I can't hurt anyone..."
"don't sa that, Sayaka!"[Madoka cried] "I know what I could do, I'll make_"
"Don't even think about it, Madoka! Its not worth it. You're lucky to have such a good life, go on living it...guess we'll have to come up wit some excuse for my parets..]
[meanwhile]
[Mami blinked] "how did you know about the music box?"
"Nanbei told me about it."
[Miku cringed, feeling the darkness overtaking her again] "Len, I'm losing it.... please.... get away...im sorry... good by..."
"No miku!"
[And then she slipped back to witch, grabbing len and pinning him down, downloading his memories. his life was displayed on the screen, but also other memories, of what looked like 200 years ago...

- So how do you mean to use it, anyway? The music box thing isn't useful at all unless you can get access to a Witch's Grief Seed, and the only way to do that, as far as I know, is -
[And that was when Elly jumped on Len and pinned him down! Mami and the other girls stared at the scenes playing across the countless screens. So what were all those other girls in medivial looking outfits who looked just like them, anyway?]
...Miku.
[Len said sadly, and patted Elly's face, which was covered by her dark straggly hair. Elly just crooned at him in Witchspeak, however.]
See me, see me not, see me, see me not -
[And then, she grabbed Len like a toy, and tried to drag him into one of the TV sets! The fan boy looked at her, then, tears in his eyes.]
- Miku-san! No!
[Elly froze for a moment at that - And that was when Rin growled something under her breath, then, and stood up straight, her magic starting to ball on top of her cleched fist.]
...Sorry, Miku - If I have to choose between Len and you, it'll have to be Len each and every time, I'm afraid...
[Madoka shuddered, then. Wasn't there something she could do? Oh, of course, she could always make a Contract and make those horrible Kyubeys happy, but -]
[And then, she felt something like a soft wind. Somebody was standing right next to her for a moment, she felt, somebody with gold shining eyes -]
[And then, she remembered something that she'd overheard between Sayaka and Kyoko. Sayaka had Wished for infinite wishes? And what had the Kyubeys said about that? As long as Sayaka was in her mini-world, and didn't run out of energy, whatever that actually meant -]
[And that was when Madoka shook her head, her eyes glowing faintly gold for a moment.]
- Okta - Sayaka? Could you wish for the real Miku to come out of the Witch, and to turn back into a Magical Girl again, even if it's just for a short while?
[Sayaka stared at Madoka, and then shook her head, and held on to Kyoko, staggering to her feet.]
...All right, Madoka. I'll do that - I don't think I can keep it up for long, though -
[And then, she waved her hand - And all of a sudden, the Witch which was chanting to herself seemed to be split in half! Puella Magi Miku had manifiested herself right next to Elly and Len. She shook her head, and then looked at Madoka.]
- Thank you.
[And then, she turned toward Sayaka.]
...And thank you, too.
[And then, she turned toward the fan, who was still looking at her, tearing poaring down his face.]
- I remember you, Saito-san - You were the very first person who said I should have a fanclub of my very own.
[And then, she looked at Rin and Len.]
...Thanks for being my friends, both of you -
[And then, she opened her arms, and bowed to all the people there.]
- And now, ladies and gentlemen - Welcome to Hatsune Miku's very last concert!
[And then, she opened her mouth, and began to use the power of her songs to defeat the Witch, as she'd done so many times before...]

" thank you..,, good bye.,,,". Both mikus disappeared snd the grief seed dropped ti the ground.
Len sank to his kneed sadly. Rin patted his shoukder " dint worry, dhes not dead. Shes just asleep in thr grief seed."
The monitors and the familiars disappeared.

[Rin groaned again, and tried to say something - And that was when what seemed to be something like a small twinkling light appeared in front of them for a couple of seconds. It twirled around for a couple of seconds, and then disappeared.]
[The two Kyubeys looked at each other, then, while Rin put a hand to her head again.]
...I hate it when you say "interesting" like that, Eight. Just what do you mean?
[She mumbled for a couple of more minutes, mumbling to herself, and then went and picked up Elly's Grief Seed before anybody could stop her.]
- Well, OK, that explains why some Witches are... OK, OK, I get it...
[And then, she took her brother, and put a hand on his shoulder.]
...According to a certain somebody I've just been talking to, the real Miku's soul core, whatever that is, seems to have gotten away, and this is just some leftovers made from her spirit. A lot of the time, the soul is trapped inside the Witch when a girl goes Witch, but not always, it seems - And that does explain how sometimes, Magical Girls can reincarnate anyway, after they'd gone Witch, I suppose.
[And then, she sighed a bit - Eight had also mentioned that Witches with a soul trapped inside seemed to tend to be smarter and much more powerful then Witches whose soul had vamoosed, but she didn't want to give the normal Incubators even more ideas then they'd probably had already, to be honest.]

"Kyubey, what is happening?"
"I am not sure myself, Mami. But you said you met my brother Hachibei?" [he shook his head, looking sympathetic] "I'm sorry to say this, but he is acutally a traitor to our kind. It would be wise not to trust him. "
"Oh?"[Mami seemed concerened]
"yes. Surely he is planning to meddle in affairs and mess with the order of magical girls. We wouldn't want that now, would we?" [he cuddled against her legs, knowing he had her wrapped around his finger]
"No. you're right, Kyubey. Thank you for warning me..." [She picked him up and hugged him.] "I'll let you know if he shows up again."
"Thank you, Mami."
"But then, what about that music box he gave me?"
"Well, it is true. It is a device used to contain and tame witches."

...Um...Kyubey...I can keep the magic music box, right? And the little ones?
[Kyubey smiled at her with a nod.]
- You can keep it, and them, as long as you want, Mami! That kind of stuff might turn out to be useful, after all - Who knows what the future would bring?
[Not to mention that the Kyubeys were pretty sure that Mami wasn't going to live long enough to cause them any serious trouble in any case.]
[Len, in the meanwhile, was wiping his eyes.]
...So, um...Miku isn't really in there?
- Probably not. I don't think Eight has any reason to lie about stuff like that, anyway.
[And then, she carried over Elly's Grief Seed to Mami before Len had any time to object, and pointed at the magical item that looked like a Music Box.]
...Hey, Tomoe Mami - Do you mind if I try putting this thing in that Music Box Thing?
[Mami looked at her, blinking, and then she remembered what the blond boy who looked like her had said. Magical Girls turning into Witches, what nonsense!]
[But then, she remembered all the other people who had said the exact same thing, and sighed a bit, pushing her thoughts away.]
- Fine, if that's what you want. Don't you want to use it first, though?
[Rin looked at Elly's Grief Seed, and twitched a little, reminding herself that the real Miku, or her soul anyway, probably wasn't in there anymore anyway.]
...I'll pass for now, but you can, if you want. - Think of it as your bonus for participating in this experiment, if you want.
[Mami nodded at that, and pushed the Grief Seed against her Soul Gem, feeling the nastiness drain away. Oh, that was much better.]
- Thank you.
[She said, and then put the Grief Seed into the Music Box thing, wondering if it would work this time, too.]

[Rin nodded, smiling sadly. She wanted to keep Miku's witch with them, but she knew she had to remain near the box, and Maami already seemed quite bonded with the other two witches]
[Sayaka smiled sadly] "Well, it's time to send you all home now"
[Mami blinked at her] "What do you mean, Sayaka?"
"I unintetionally created a small realm of my own and dragged you all in."
"Oh. That's strange. But I'm not mad at you for it, sayaka."
"But ypu're coming too, right Sayaka?" [Madoka said]
[Sayaka shook her head sadly] "You know I can't, Madoka. I have to stay here... Don't worry, I'll be fine."
"But, you'll be all alone..."
[Kyouko bit her lip, then stood up and went to sayaka's side] "No she won't be alone. Because I'll be staying with her."

...You don't want me to make a Contract with Kyubey just so I can pry you out of here, do you?
[One of the Kyubeys chuckled at that.]
- Personally speaking, I wouldn't mind that at all, actually, buuut...
...Oh, shut up!
[Kyoko said, and stomped on the Kyubey, who just laughed as he was stomped. The other Kyubey didn't look very happy about this, though, Madoka notes with some surprise.]
- So...what do you expect me to do, Madoka?
[Sayaka said, grimancing. Madoka sighed, then, and walked up to her.]
...There's no reason you can't come out of here to go to school, or do normal stuff with your family, or stuff like that, right? You can stay here when you're doing your homework, or when you're sleeping, if you need to stay in here to - to recharge or anything.
[And then, Madoka went up and put her hand on Sayaka's arm, shaking her.]
What do you think your parents are going to feel like if you just disappear?
- And how do you think I'm going to feel? Eh? I bet you didn't think of that at all!

"I'm going to become a witch!" [Sayaka raised her voice, looking distraught now] "that's the truth of it! It happened to Miku, andd it's going to happen to all magical girls! Don't ypou get it! It's not going to be all right! And there's nothing that can be done about it!"[She pushed Madoka away] "I don't want to hurt anyone when it happens! That's why I've got to stay here! And don't you dare make a wish to fix me, then you'll be in the same boat!"
"Sayaka...."
[Mami froze, looking up form her mini witches] "Sayaka, don't tell me you believe that tripe now, magical girl becoming witches...

[And that was when Rin came over to where they were talking.]
- Look, you can believe what you want, Tomoe, but the truth isn't going to change, I'm afraid.
[And then, she motioned Sayaka and Kyoko to follow her away for a couple of meters. Madoka looked at Mami, and groaned - What now?]
...Look, first, I think we should introduce ourselves. I'm Kagamine Rin, and that's my brother Len over there.
[Rin pointed to her brother, who was currently holding a tiny negi-shaped keyholder in front of Mini-Elly, and waving it. She saw her wipe some tears from his eyes with his sleeve, and turned away, biting her lip. Damn, there was no time now for all those frigging emotions.]
[Sayaka and Kyoko looked at each other, and introduced themselves, haltingly. Rin nodded, and looked at both of them.]
- Good to meet you, Miki, Sakura.
[And then, she turned to Sayaka with a sigh.]
...Look, Miki Sayaka, your pink haired friend has a point, I think. Shutting yourself up in here is not going to actually gurrantee that you don't go Witch, and you really should try to keep as much as your ordinary life going as possible in the meanwhile.
[And then, she rubbed at her head.]
- Girls who keep up their ordinary life and keep contact with their family and friends who aren't Magical Girls do seem to last the longest, you see...
...I mean, you don't want to go Witch even faster because you miss your family and friends so much, and end up trying to drag them into your world, right?
[Kyoko looked at Sayaka, then.]
- I think...she may have a point. I mean, if I had a chance to spend more time with my parents and little sister, even a little while...
[And then, she took a deep breath, and patted Sayaka's arm.]
...Look, I'll take care of things if it looks like you're actually going Witch first, OK?
[And then she gave Sayaka a wane grin.]
- As long as you promise to return the favor, of course! Things like this should go both ways, after all...
path 3 starts here

[Mami meanwhile was fretting. No, Sayaka couldn't be right! But now that she thought about it, the clues seemed to be pointing to... she turned to Kyubey, her face white]
"Kyubey...Is this, true?"
[Kyubey just calmly licked his paw] "I won't deny it."
"B-but how,,, why... "
"Becoming a witch is the next stage for a magical girl, once her soul gem completly darkens and forms into a grief seed. Magical girls defeat these witches, collect their energy, and I use it to power the universe. That's the cycle."
[Mami sank to her knees, shaking] "Kyubey... H-how could you... I thought you were my friend."
"I am, by the factors of the term. I just lack the ability for the strange notion of compassion."
[Mami was sobbing now] "if it's our fate to become monsters... then we might as well just die, now..." [Shepulled out her rifle and pointed to the other girls, planning to end them, then herself. She was about to pull the trigger, when Bebe jumped up and pulled the rifle down]
"Mami!!!"
[mami paused. It was sqeakier now, but how could she have not recognized that voice from Bebr?" ...Nagisa?"

...That doesn't mean it has to happen to you, though, Mami. I mean, I've known a lot of Magical Girls, and many of them didn't even come close to turning into Witches themselves!
[Mostly because they died early, but this Kyubey wasn't going to mention that, nope.]
- Oh.
[Mami said, and then, she buried her head in her arms. Bebe and Butterfly. came up to her, and chittered at her, softly.]
...OK, Bebe, Butterfly. I'm - I'm gonna be OK, all right?
