[And then she giggled, in spite of herself.]
...And then, we'll all have the most fun tea parties for ever and ever, but not you. You'll never get to taste the cakes, or drink the tea, or just talk with us about things that are fun, ha ha ha -
[And then, Mami pointed a dramatic finger at Haruhi.]

(Kyouko blinked, realizing that mami was now speaking the witch language herself) " ok, enough standing around here!" ( kyiuko launched her chain link spear at albertine. It managed to ensanre her and cut her cheek
Albertine sniffled ) " that hurts! You meanie!" (She burst into tears, her cries extremely lound and reverberating the room. Kyouko yelled and grabbed her ears from the piercing noise, unable to stand it)

...What? Oh, Bebe-chan, I do see what you mean, I think, but - I've never put a whole entire Witch inside that thing before!
[Mami sighed, and patted Bebe on the head.]
- I don't think she'll fit inside there at all, OK?
[Bebe nodded at that, and then she looked at the other Mini Witches. They squeaked among themselves for a couple of seconds - And then, Bebe pointed at Mami again, motioning her out of the way.]
[Mami tilted her head, puzzled, and then grabbed Haruhi and rolled her out of the way, too. She wasn't going to take chances with her poor schoolmate's life, after all...]
[And then, the Mini Witches posed and attacked - ]
[- Aand Mami's eyes almost bulged out of their sockets as the Witch was suddenly cut into three pieces, and a large chunk of what seemed to be her heart came flying her way!]
...Whaaat!?!?
[Mami gingerly picked up the heart, and looked at it. The Witch Barrier was coming down as they watched, but it seemed to take a very long time, about five times as much as usual, Mami noted faintly. And the meaty parts of the heart were fading away too, leaving a Grief Seed in it's wake...]

[Mami, in the meanwhile, was slowly swearing at herself inwardly, trying to remember exactly what Eight and Seven had told her when they gave her the Music Box Thing. Had they been planning to - What was that word, weaponize the little ones from the very beginning? Cripes!]
[And then, she sighed, and made herself smile. Well, this did make some things much easier, she did have to admit.]
...They're Witches, Kyoko, and Witches are never harmless.
[And then, she snickered, and smiled at the Mini Witches.]
- Even if they are still as cute as buttons.
[The Mini Witches clapped their hands and smiled back at Mami, then. Mami sighed again, and then turned toward Kyoko.]
...OK, then, I think we should at least try to clean off our Soul Gems before I put the Grief Seed in the Music Box Thing, I think...
[Mami said, and then held out the Grief Seed as the last of the meat melted off it. Kyoko nodded, and cleaned off her Soul Gem throughly, and then handed it back to Mami. Mami nodded too, and then rolled the Grief Seed against her Soul Gem, trying to get each and every scrap of the dark energies.]
[She then looked at it, and wrinkled her nose.]
...This still could be used at least once or twice, I suppose...Hmmm. Maybe we should get Sayaka-san to clean off hers, too. It's not good to waste a Grief Seed, after all...

[Kyouko raised an eyebrow] "Ok, so mmaybe it helps that we got tamed witches on our side and all. but ya sure we can trust that Hachibei thing? For all we know he could be a schemining lying demon like Kyubey!"
[Mami sighed] "Well, I feel I can trust him..."
"Like you did with Kyubey?"

[And then, she patted the Music Box Thing and the Mini Witches, one by one.]
- He did give me this thing, which proved to be quite useful. And I think he also has lots of valuable information that we could use, too, I think...
[Kyoko shrugged, then.]
- Well, alrighty, then. I don't feel like trusting any version of a Kyubey, to be honest, but they can be useful, I gotta admit.
[And then, she grinned.]
...Say, why don't we go find Sayaka, and maybe that Akemi girl to if she happens to be hanging around, and let them use the Grief Seed? And then, we can put it in that thing, and - Hmmm...
[Kyoko thought about this, then.]
- And just maybe, you could try and introduce me to this "Hachibei" critter once we get home, if he's still hanging around. What do you think, Mami?

- Nooo, I don't wanna be a ball, and I don't wanna play with you!
[And then, she looked around her, her eyes wide.]
.......Um. What? Tomoe-san???
[Mami quickly hid Bebe behind a nearby tree, and gestured at the other Mini-Witches to hid.]
- Haruhi-san! I just came here, and you were out like a light on the ground...
[Haruhis shook her head, then.]
........Oh. I fainted, then? I do feel awfully woozy, now that I think of it......
[Mami nodded.]
- Don't worry, Haruhi-san, I'll take you home now, OK?
[And then she did so, Kyoko and the Mini-Witches trailing behind them. Thank goodness Haruhi-san's house and Sayaka-san's house were both near by, she thought.]
[She explained that she'd found Haruhi in a faint to Haruhi's mother, and helped Haruhi into the house. And then, they started toward Sayaka's house.]
[Sayaka was outside the house, waiting for them.]
- I could sort of smell all the little ones coming, ho ho ho - So what's up?
[The Mini Witches cheered at her, waving. Sayaka waved back, and then, turned toward Mami and Kyoko. Mami held out the Grief Seed with a smile.]
...We thought you just might like to use it before I put it in the Music Box Thing, you see!
[And then, she sighed a bit. She really should explain to Sayaka-san what the Mini-Witches had done, she felt, but it would be nice if they had a bit of privacy for that kind of thing...]

"yeah, that's true..." [Sayaka tried a smiel and accepted the grief seed]
[Mami was about to acept the seed back when her phone rang] "One moment." [She stepped away and answered it.] "Ah, Satoro-san?" [It was her family lawyer]
"Mami san. Good afternoon" [he sounded grave] "Listen, we need to meet as soon as possible. something important came up..."
"Oh?" [she blinked] "when should I come?"
"Perhaps in an hour, in my office."
"All riggt. I shall see you then." [she hung up and went back to the others] "My apologies, but there is an appointment I must attend to. Could I trouble you to take care of the little ones for me?" [she gave the music box to Kyouko]
"no problem, Mami!"
[Later Mami was at the lawyer's office. She trusted her lawyer, he helped arrange things for life on her own after her parents death. To her surprise, she saw a couple of her parents business associates, even possible rivals, there as well. ]
"Ah, Tomoe san. please have a seat]

- Are they making trouble again? I'm not going to give them even more of my parent's money, Mitsurugi-san - They got a big enough chunk of it when my parents passed away! Where'd all that money go, anyway?
[The lawyer sighed.]
...Oh, I do understand how you feel, but they've been apparently trying to get legal guardianship of you again, and...
[Mami stared at him.]
...My legal guardian is still my Grand Aunt Miyoko, correct?
[The lawyer nodded, his head bobbing.]
- Oh, yes, yes, but - Tomoe Miyoko-san is a very old lady in her 80s now, you see, and though her mind is still quite sound, from what I gathered the last time we talked...
[And then, he wiped his brow again.]
...Ahem. Mami-san - It might be worth trying to give your Uncle and Aunt at least some of the money they keep saying they need, I think?
[Mami sighed, then.]
- It might be worth trying to pay them off if it'll stop them from causing us trouble, you mean?
...That would be the gist of it, yes.
[Mami nodded, then, and asked her lawyer to set up an appointment with her uncle and aunt. So how much money was this going to cost her now, anyway?]

"An appointment with my lawyer. " Mami picked up Bebe for a hug
"What about?"
"Just some family and finance issues. I'm sorry Kyouko, I can't join you ffor the trip tomorrow. I have a meeting with my lawyer again and some relatives."
[kyouko raised an eyebrow, munchuing on some crackers] "I thought you didn't have any family left?"
"Well, not,close family , per say." Mami looked down, patted Bebe's pink curls , "They're a couple times removed. " My great out, and third uncle and aunt, and my third cousins. " [Mako and Rukia. They were about Mami's age. Mami wanted to be friends with them and enjoyed their company. Even if they were rather unpleasant girls admittedly and up their high horse and often made fun of Mami...]
"Oh really? And why are they showing their faces up now huh?"
"Just, family business..."
"Mami,"
"I'll be fine." She smiled and put the witches back into the back, keeping Bebe in her arms "Come on dearies, it's time to go home."

[Her Aunt Rinako said, a smile as fake as Kyubey's normal one pasted on her face.]
- It's so good to see you, my dear...
[Mami looked at her Rinako's fur coat, and sighed. She usually wouldn't give a damn what her relatives wore or didn't wear, but that fur coat looked like it was real fur, and also like it was brand new.]
...Hello, Aunt Rinako, Uncle Seijirou, Makoto, Rukia...
[The main problem with these particualar relatives was, she thought with a sigh, they couldn't manage their budgets if their life depended on it.]
- So I hear you've been having some problems with Mako-chan and Rukia-chan's school fees and whatnot?
[Mami said lightly, and then served everybody some tea and cakes. She waited until her relatives had all taken a bit of the cakes, and then dropped the bombshell.]
...You know, Aunt Rinako, Uncle Seijirou - It would be so much easier if Mako-chan and Rukia-chan could transfer to another school, don't you think? Financially, I mean.
[And then, she turned to her cousins, who were looking at her with utterly horrified looks in her eyes.]
- I know Akitsu Gakuen is supposed to be a very good school, and I must admit I did want to go there when I was younger, since my mother and father did meet at Akitsu University and all, but - To put things frankly, it's a school for really, really rich people, especially nowadays, and considering the financial situation of our branch of the family is in now...
[Makoto and Rukia looked at each other in horror, then.]
...Nooo! Mama, Papa, I don't want to have to quit - Our family's always gone there!
[Rukia, in the meanwhile, had turned on Mami, angrily.]
- How dare you! Just because you decided to hide yourself away in some stupid school for commonors -
[Mami stared at her cousin, then. What?]
...We're all commonors here, now, the last time I checked. And most of our ancesters were merchants. Rich merchants, but still.
[And then, she nodded at her lawyer, and passed along some papers to everybody sitting at the table.]
- As you can see here, if Mako-chan and Rukia-chan could go to any of those schools from high school, and then to any of the universities on the list, it would become much easier to pay for their education. Those are all perfectly respectable and high ranking schools, just in case you were wondering.
[The problem, Mami thought with a even bigger sigh, was that Akitsu Gakuen had changed from a school for the well to do to a school for the mega-rich in just a couple of generations - And their branch of the Tomoe family just wasn't able to keep up with that, to be honest.]
[There was a reason she was going to Mitakihara Middle School, after all.]
[Her aunt and uncle looked at each other, and then at the papers, muttering to themselves about education fees and school loans and classmates of their daughters who kept making them spend money they didn't have. Mami grinned a bit at that, inwardly - Ha ha ha, maybe they'd actually listen to her and her lawyer for once?]
[And that was when Rukia stood up, and threw some of the papers at Mami's face!]
...But I don't want to go to some stupid school for - for ordinary people!
[Mami stared as her cousin staggered to her feet, her face as red as a beet.]
- You, You - This is all your fault, Mami! If you hadn't wanted to go to some stupid Tea Convention, Uncle Mitsuo and Auntie Minako would still be alive!

[the two girls paraded Mami outside and tossed her cookies into the garbage] "Really, stop serving this tacky, sugary foods. its so fattening! We're on a special diet, you know!"
"I'm, sorry about that, I,"
"So who do you think you are anyway, telling our parents what to do! You think you're in charge or something?" [Mako sneered]
"I, only was pointing out what might be a better option considering.. I just wanted to help."
"Well you don't know! Hah, you're always such a goody goody Tomoe!"
"Oh, but is she really?" [Rukia added[ "Wev'e been keeping an eye on you. Rumor has it that you['ve been seeing going into rather suspicious and seedy places the last few years. Just what was it that you were doing there? Some little extra activity?"
"Oh, and what about that redhead you were hanging out with? Wasn't she the daughter of that psycho preist and that cult and kileld himself? And she's a criminal now?"
[Before Mami could defend Kyouko they kept drilling into her]
"So what dirty little sercets are you hiding, hm? Oh and is your cherst even real? Oh, you're always playing the dainty perfect lady!"
"We know your' hiding something. And why is it when your parents died, druing the crash, you came out without a single scratch! Like magic!"
"Like a witch! Are you a witch Tomoe?"
[Mami was shaking by now. she could hear a voice whispering in her mind, her voice.]
[meanwhile as the sisters continued bullying an dpointing out all of Mami's flaw, Aunt Rinako was drilling into the lawyer]
"Come to think about it, isn't there european nobility in our bloodline? surely that amouts for somehting?"
"Well, yes, but the near direct dscededy applied to Minako and not as much you..."
"Well, I know you can do somehting more in our favor." [she leaned forward sensually] "There are benifits, and things to work around. And really, does young Mami really need all that money for herself? Even by herself all in that big lovely penthouse, surely she'd be more comfortable in something smaller. We can take of her assets."
"Well, normally I do, and her parent's trusted tax accountant helps her maanage the finances. And she willed everything to chairty in case of her loss and_" [he was sweating more nervously]
"Hm. Let's cut to the chase. Like I said, I know you can work with us. Afterall, I had some people dig some information on you, and I have connections... it would be a shame for you i certain information got out wouldn't it?" [she smiled nastily as the lawyer blanched]

...Hmmm, let's start with something simple, then. You own three small companies, and have part ownership of several more, but your tax filing seems to be quite, let us say, creative indeed. And as for -
[And outside...]
...A witch, huh? As if you idiots would know of witches. Or magic. Or anything important, really.
[Mami growled out, and then held her head, grimancing.]
- Your parents are idiots! The only company of theirs that actually makes money is the company my father made for them to manage the apartments and other buildings they inherited from their grandparents - Everything else just keeps bleeding their money away, but they wouldn't sell them no matter what my father used to say, and -
[She shook her head, then.]
...And then, they even sent you two to Akitsu! How come stupid idiots like you two get to go to Akitsu, when even I couldn't afford it?
[A dark aura was starting to leak out of her. Makoto and Rukia looked at each other, and shuddered - Why had the air become so cold all of a sudden, anyway?]
- I liked Mitakihara so much more then I thought I would, but it's not the same, it's just not. Mother and Father would have been so disappointed...
[If only she'd made a better Wish...]
[Inside the room]
- Your problem, Tomoe-san, is that you're still trying to cling to a upper class lifestyle when your family is, in reality, only upper middle class at best, financially speaking.
[Mami's lawyer said with a cold smile.]
...You still do have quite a bit of wealth left, so - If you sold off the companies that were losing money, and perhaps some of your houses too, and got your daughters to go to more affordable schools, and just downsized your lifestyle in general - You probably could get out of debt in a couple of years.
[And then, he rubbed his head, and sighed.]

( mami felt a sharp pain in her heart and fell to her knees, gasping. She could feel her soul gem darkening. She knew now whst was going to happen...) " no... I cant..,." ( but why shouldnt i, her voice in her mind whispered. Things would be much better off this way. I am a witch after all. Just... Let go.. Be happy....)
( mami felt a rush of fiery magic suddenly fly by her and heard the coysins scream)
" you!!!"
( when mami cracked open her teary eyes she could see kyouko blazing in anger beating up the cousins)

[She said, and threw herself at Kyoko's back, pulling her to the ground.]
- Get in the house now! I mean it!
[She yelled at her cousins, and then sat on top of Kyoko, waiting for her to come to her senses.]
...Kyoko, Kyoko, calm down, those idiots are my cousins, and they're just normal girls, not Witches or Familiars!
[Mami's cousins, in the meanwhile, had run into the house their parents and Mami's lawyer was, crying. Rukia's skirt had almost been torn in two, while Makoto was bleeding from a gnash in her arm.]
- Papa, Mama, help! That - That red headed delinquent Mami used to hang out with almost killed us!
[Mami's lawyer stared at both of them, and put his hand to his head. What the bloody hell?]
[And then, he blinked. Wait, how did Mami's cousins know about Sakura Kyoko at all, anyway? Had their parents hired PIs or something? Well, shit!]
[And in the meanwhile, Kyoko apparently had calmed down a bit.]
...Kyoko? Where'd you come from, anyway?
[Mami mumbled. Kyoko sighed, then.]
- You're right in my territory, dumbass - Why'd you think I wouldn't notice?
[And then, Kyoko sighed, and reached up awkwardly to pat Mami's cheeck.]
...Yeah, right. Sorry, Mami...- I just made things a lot worse, eh?
[Mami shook her head, then.]
.....Never mind, I'd talked things over with my lawyer beforehand, and we'd sort of decided we'd probably have to pull all the stops out anyway, if they wouldn't listen to reason.
[They were probably going to have to blackmail the heck out of her uncle and aunt and cousins to make them shut up and go away about this little fiasco, and also give them much more money then Mami would have liked, but whatever, whatever.]
[Mami gave Kyoko a hug, anyway, with a soft smile.]
- Thank you, Kyoko. I mean it. Really.

[Mami loooked down sadly, tears in her eyes now] "...It was me, Kyouko. I was the witch..."

[Mami sweatdropped as Kyoko rolled over and pounced with amazing speed, plucking a small sachel filled with Grief Seeds out of Mami's pocket.]
...Hey. Heeeyyyy!
[Mami said, her eyes wide.]
- Come on, Mami - You gotta take care of yourself when you're down! That's what you used to tell me all the time, right?
[Kyoko laughed - And then, she opened the sachel and poared two Grief Seeds out into Mami's hand. And then, she tossed the sachal on Mami's lap, snickering.]
[Mami stared at the Grief Seeds in her hand, and sighed, then.]
- When you're right, you're right, I suppose...
[And then, it was Mami's turn to snicker.]
...Even if it is you, Sakura Kyoko.
[Kyoko mock-pouted at that.]
...Hey, hey, hey - What's that supposed to mean, hah?
[Mami stuck the Grief Seeds to her Soul Gem, then, and sighed in relief as the dark eneriges drained away.]
- So how many times have you been right, and I been wrong, again? I wonder if it's going to snow in the summertime next, ha ha ha...

[Mami bit her lip] "Kyouko... just go home..."
[Meanwhile, Madoka and Sayaka had control of the music box. Madoka giggled as she played with Bebe, she was so cute!
Sayaka was looking at the box curiously, thinking of the witches, the mini world she unintentionally created and almost stayed in, of Miku's fall and transformation.... Finally, she made a desion.] "Madoka. .."[shehugged Madoka] "I'm going to try something. If things go wrong, well...]
"Sayaka?"
"Youre my best friend. and tell Mami, and, Kyouko, and Kyousuke, I'm sorry..."
[And then she took out her soul gem, took a deep breath , and dropped it into the music box. An shock of icy feeling shot through her, and she gasped. the soul gem shook, tendrils of energy and whisps of darkness lacing it, almost becoming a grief seed.but it didn't,a lmost a mix. Sayaka could hear her own voice in her head, and cried out in pain as she suddenly transformed into a mermaid, fishtail, scales and fins included]
