[Rukia was whining, before she was shushed by her parents.]
[Grand Aunt Miyoko's lawyer looked around the room, and then continued to read the will. Miyoko's long term servants were apparently getting some money and other things too, and then...]
Tsuji Rukia and Tsuji Makoto will both recieve a small inheritance each - And no, neither of you will have to worry about inheritance taxes, just in case you were wondering.
Please take those boxes. Everything in them and everything written on the list inside them will now be yours.
[Rukia and Makoto stared at the rather large boxes they had been given, and then opened them.]
...That's all? Jeez, I didn't think Auntie Miyoko hated us that much!
[Makoto muttered. Rukia, in the meanwhile, had frozen for a moment as she looked through her box and read the list. She could understand the jewelry, and the envelops full of gift cards was nice, but what was those bunch of keys doing here, anyway?]
[Hmmm...]
[Mami, in the meanwhile, had almost headdesked - Had her cousins just ignored the fact that Grand Aunt Miyoko had just canceled all the debts that their parents had owed her? Good grief!]
[And then, the lawyer cleared his throat, and looked around the room again.]
- I would also like to know if Momoe Kayoko-san, maiden name Yoshino Kayoko-san, or her daughter Nagisa-san is here.
[Nagisa and Mami stared at each other for a moment, and then Nagisa raised her hand.]
...I - I'm Momoe Nagisa, Lawyer-san!
[And then, she lowered her eyes, her expression becoming sad.]
- I'm afraid my mother...um...passed away a couple of months ago, though...
[The lawyer nodded, then, and gave her a little bow.]
...My condolances for your loss, Momoe-san.
[And then, he picked up two other boxes, and gestured for her to take them.]
In this case, both of these boxes should now go to you.

"yes." [the lawyer nodded] She is actually a third time moved great niece. Which makes you her third time moved great niece."
"Oh!" I never knew..." [Nagisa seemed a bit sad at that. Mami patted her shoulder, but was glad to find out confirmation that She and Nagisa were related after all.]
"Well then, shall we see what is left in the box?"
"Ok..." [Nnagisa opened the box to see what was inside."

[Nagisa said softly, as she saw the one on top was a group photo of her parents and herself as a baby posing in front of the Cheeseshop-and-Bakery, Miyoko-san grinning besides them.]
[Mami smiled, too, as she saw what Nagisa was looking at. She handed Nagisa a handkerchief so she could wipe her eyes.]
[There were many more things then that inside the two boxes Nagisa had inherited, but before she had time to check them all, Miyoko's lawyer coughed again, and raised his voice.]
- And lastly - Tomoe Mami-san? You have inhereited the house Hashimoto Miyoko-san had lived in for the last 50 years, and some funds and other assets as well. According to our calculations, the money should be enough to cover the inheritance taxes, but just barely...

[And then, she thought about this some more. An house was a house, and it was in a fairly nice part of the town, too, from what she remembered...]
[Mami's cousins, on the other hand, appeared to be seething, though her aunt and uncle themselves seemed to be strangely composed about the matter.]
...Why the hell does stupid Mami keep getting everything, anyway?
[Rukia growled, gritting her teeth.]
- She's so stupid! She didn't even try go to the proper schools so she could meet the proper people, but she and that stupid lawyer of hers keeps trying to tell us how to run our lives, and -
[Nagisa, in the meanwhile, was staring at Rukia, and sweatdropping.]
...But - But the Tsuji familiy is really rich already! Why do they keep wanting to get your money, Mami-Neesan?
[She whispered. Mami sighed, then.]
- They're still quite well to do by ordinary people's standards, but a long time ago, the whole family used to be even richer, and they...They just couldn't adapt properly when things changed and they didn't have much money as before, I suppose.
[Mami rubbed her eyes, then.]
...People can be really stupid about things like that, sometimes.

It was nice to have some extra money, she would ensure it would go into nagisa's future. Hm, she didn't need that extra house right away, her apartment was fine. Maybe she could put. It up for rent for the time being, like she was doing with her own child hood home where she lived with her parents...)
( as she buttoned up nagisa's jacket she looked at her relatives coldly) " very well. I shall give you the extra money you have requested. But this will be the last time."

[Her Aunt asked. Mami twitched, remembering when she'd mentioned that particular relative in front of her aunt and uncle by mistake.]
...No, not yet.
[Her Aunt tut-tutted, then.]
- Well, you see, she's in a a pickle too, financially speaking, the poor dear - She really wants to rebuild the clinic she and her husband owned before their son becomes a doctor too, but they don't have the money for that, see?
[Mami groaned inwardly, then. So Rikako-san was going to want a piece of her money, too, probably? Cripes - Were all her relatives only after her money? Who could she ask to be her legal guardian now?]
[And that was when Mami's lawyer came running toward them, panting. Mami stared - She'd never seen her lawyer run like that before, to be honest.]
...Mami-san! If you could come here for a moment, please?
[Mami bit her lip, and then followed him to a small room, Nagisa coming after her worriedly.]
[And about 20 minutes later...Mami was facepalming.]
...So, um, the gist of it is - My uncle and aunt and also Rikako-san has offered to let you be my de facto legal guardian in return for a really big chunk of money. Is this correct, Mitsurugi-san?
[Her lawyer nodded, wiping his brow.]
Well, your uncle and aunt would prefer you buy a house and some lands they own up in the mountains for a inflated sum, while Hatsuda Rikako-san says that she's willing to be your legal guardian on paper but let me do all the things that legal guardians should do. She does want quite a large amount of money too, though...
[Mami nodded, and looked at the papers again. Wait a minute - She knew this place, she thought.]
...It's the place with the onsens and the cottage.
[And then, she smiled - It had been so much fun, up in the mountains with her parents and her friends...]
[And then, she leaned over, and gave Nagisa a hug.]
- I don't want to lose that much money, of course, but it'll be worth it if I could stay with you and live the way we want to, Nagisa-chan.
[And then, Mami made herself grin.]
...Say, have you ever been to an onsen, Nagisa-chan? We'll be owning our very own onsen very soon now, it seems - It'll be a shame if we never went and enjoyed ourselves there, right?

[A Kyubey was looking up at her, thinking.]
...Say, Mami - I heard you were going to an onsen?
[Mami giggled, and picked him up.]
- Do you want to come too, Kyubey?
[The Kyubey smiled at her, then.]
...I would love to, Mami!
[And then, he sighed a bit.]
- I don't know what Momoe Nagisa would think of that, though - She really doesn't like me, for whatever reason.

[The Kyubey said, and then cuddled some more in her arms. He really did like going to onsens and baths, that part wasn't an - untruth - at all. He also liked going hiking, and attending festivals, and eating good food...]
[...All those things he'd had to do over and over with the Puella Magi he'd made Contracts with. So when had he actually started to enjoy doing those strange human rituals, anyway?]

...I can give you information that is useful to know, though. There were some keys in the boxes of stuff you inherited from Hashimoto Miyoko, correct?
[Nagisa stared at him.]
- How did you know - Um, I mean, there were, but...
[The Kyubey smiled, then.]
...Some of the keys are for stuff in the house formerly owned by Hashimoto Miyoko, but some of them are for - other things. They'll probably be quite useful if you decide to go exploring the big old house in the mountains when we go on the onsen trip, I think!

Something had been sucked away from sayaka, her spark, and she fad. Fallen into a depression . She had withdrawn from school and her parents and friends and thrown herself into magical girl business , picking off familiars.
She heard kyoukos boice calling over " hey. How long are ya gonna sulk like tgat?

- That goddamn Kyubey tricked me! I thought - I thought that - I thought I was doing the right thing, when I made the Contract and became a Magical Girl...
[Kyoko huffed at that, and sat down on the edge of the bed Sayaka was lying on. She then took out a sweet senbei, and started to cruch on it.]
...Hey, come on, Miki Sayaka - You're starting to sound as paranoid as that weirdo transfer student.
[And then, Kyoko sighed, her eyes hooded.]
- So ya really believe that shi - that thing about Magical Girls turning into Witches, hah?
[Sayaka rolled over and stared at Kyoko, her eyes wide.]
...But...Hatsune Miku...She turned into a Witch, right on the stage! You were right there, too, right?
[Kyoko sighed, then, and crammed yet another senbei into her mouth.]
- I was in the Concert Hall, sure, but I wasn't lookin' at the stage at all, when the Witch aura started to go boom. And afterward, I thought of askin' Mami what the goddamn hell happened, but...
[Kyoko shook her head, then, and took a swig out of her plastic bottle of tea.]
......Mami...Mami can be sorta...fragile, ya see? I mean, she looks real strong on the surface, and she really is good at fighting, but...
.........Oh. OK, I get it, I think.
[Sayaka said with a sigh.]
So she's sort of the opposite of Madoka, then. Madoka looks sort of soft and fluttery on the outside, but she's really strong and flexible and stable inside, if you get what I mean...
- Hey, really?
[Kyoko said, and then looked at the box of cookies on the side table. Sayaka snickered, and tossed it over to her.]
......Yes, really. And you can eat that, Kyoko. No stealing from the fridge, though - The food in there belongs to my mom, not me!
[Kyoko looked at the cookies, then, and her mouth twitched.]
...Yeah, thanks.
[And then, she sighed again.]
- At least you made a good Wish, though, right? I mean, your boyfriend's hands are all better now, the last time I checked, so...
[Sayaka stared at her, going red in the face.]
...Kyosuke isn't my boyfriend!
[And then, she paused again. No, wait, was that quite true? He had asked her to the Miku concert and everything...]
- Well, I mean, he hasn't really asked me to be his GF or anything yet... And as for my Wish -
[And then, she closed her mouth, as she remembered the piece of paper she'd written down all her wishes on, and how she'd told Kyubey to grant all everything written down on it. She wasn't quite sure how she could explain that, or even if she should explain it to Kyoko, though... Especially since she was pretty sure that nobody had told Kyoko about that little trick before she made her Wish. Well, Sayaka herself would never had thought of such a thing if Akemi Homura hadn't told her beforehand about it, that was for sure, she thought.]
- Uh, ahem. I mean, I really am glad that Kyosuke's hands are better, and he's playing music again, yeah, but - but...
...Yeah, yeah, I get it.
[Kyoko said, and then she slumped agaist the sides of the bed with a sigh, and closed her eyes.]
- Hey, Miki Sayaka. Would you mind listening to a story? It's about a silly girl just about your age, you see...
[Sayaka looked at Kyoko, then, and sat up.]
...Sure I'll listen, Kyoko. What is it about?
[Kyoko sighed, then.]
- So once upon a time, there was this girl called Sakura Kyoko, and when she was 14 years old, she met this red eyed critter, who told her she could be special and good and useful, and make a difference in everybody's lives...

[Sayaka huffed and lay back down in her blanket again.] "I don't feel like going out...."
"Well I don't care!" [Kyouko yanked the blankets off of Sayaka] "get on up and stop moping!"
"Sheesh! fine!" [Sayaka trudged out, grumbling. She grabbed a blouse, jeans, and jacket out of her closet and started to get dressed. she she peeled her pajamas off she looked at Kyouko.] "do you mind?"
"What for? We're both girls here after all. Heh, embarrassed?"
"No!" [sayaka tinged pink as she finished getting dressesd.] "fine. I'm ready."
"good." [Kyouko climbed out oof the window she entered through and hopepd down easily.] "Follow me."
[though Sayaka was still unsure, she follwoed Kyouko. She lead her to the bus stop and soon climbed a bus and they headed to the next door town of Kazamino."
"Why are we going here?"
"You'll see." [After they disembarked, Kyouko led her to a seemingly abandoned part of town and a decent sized ruined church with lots of satined glass windows]

[And then, she sighed.]
- We really shoulda wondered just why it was so cheap, I suppose, but then, nobody wanted to look a gift horse in the mouth. This place used to be all swamps before they drained it, and it was an old battlefield as well, so there were all those stories of it being haunted...
[Kyoko took a marble off a nearby table, then, and dropped it on the floor. Sayaka blinked as the marble rolled across the floor, slowly.]
...The floor isn't straight, then?
- Naah! This place isn't very well built, all things considering.
[And then, she sat down on the one remaining sofa with a yet another sigh.]
...It was home, though.
[She bit her lip, then, and took a photo in a photo stand off one of the
- I had a Papa, and a Mom, and a little sister. My dad used to be the Pastor here, and we even had a proper congregation, though it used to be as teensy as heck.
[Sayaka looked at her for a long moment, and then went and sat down on the nearby chair.]
...And then?
[Kyoko stuck a dried orange slice in her mouth, then, and chewed it slowly.]
...And then, I met a white critter with bright red eyes, and made a Wish.
[She sighed, then.]
- It wasn't the right Wish at all, of course, now that I think about it - But hindsight is wonderful, right?

- Oh, it was before we moved - We couldn't stay at our old church after Papa got kicked out, of course - We didn't own it, they did.
...And then, somebody told Papa and Mama about this old abandoned church in the middle of a former swamp that was up for sale, and well...
[Kyoko groaned, then, and slumped on the sofa.]
- I really do wonder how they managed to buy it, even if it was unbelievably cheap, now that I think about it, but my father used to have - fans, once upon a time. He was, what do you call it, charismatic, yanno?
[And then, she sighed, and started to eat an apple.]
...Yanno what? I liked our old church, and our old organization. One of Papa's fellow Pasters had dogs, and he used to let us play with 'em. But then, Papa started to act weirder and weirder, and...I...I really tried to make myself believe that he was right, and I still think he wasn't wrong, in many ways, but I...I...
[Kyoko ate the apple, and slumped down again.]
- But I went and made that stupid Wish like a stupid idiot, and things got real better for a time. All of our sudden, our little church filled up with people, and Papa and Mom were so happy - And in the meanwhile, I was hangin' out with Tomoe Mami and having fun, two Magical Girls fighting the good fight.
And so I was happy. For a while.
[Sayaka looked at Kyoko, then, and bit her lip.]
...So what happened then, Sakura Kyoko?
[Sayaka's eyes went hooded again.]
- One day, Papa caught me running about in my Magical Girl outfit, and like a damn idiot, I just went and told him about what I'd did, and the Wish I made.
...He cracked, after that. Kept telling me I'd sold my soul away for baubles, and that I'd never thought his religious ideas and philosophies were worth anything at all, which wasn't quite true, but there was just enough truth in there for it to hurt, I suppose - I mean, I didn't really care about them as much as he did, and I did miss our old church - well, the whole religious organization, I mean - a lot.

...I really should have made a different Wish, though. I just kept on thinking and thinking, afterward - What if I'd just Wished for my Papa to get better, and feel better about things in general, and for my family to be happy together? And maybe some extra money, too - That would have made a big difference. He really was depressed for a long time, now that I think about it, but I...I just didn't see that, at the time.
[Kyoko slumped over the sofa, then.]
- But by the time I'd figured that out, everything was too late. Hindsight is wonderful, right?

[Kyoko muttered, and slowly finished her apple. She tossed it into a nearby bin, and leaned back in the sofa again, sighing, and closed her eyes.]
[Less then 10 minutes later, Sayaka returned carrying two large bags.]
...What?
[Kyoko mumbled, and opens her eyes as a rather welcome smell started waft through the air.]
- Ta-da! I got burgers and fries and soft drinks - And a big salad, too!
[And then, she pushed the bag at Kyoko.]
...Let's eat, OK?

" hey. Even heroes need breaks sometimes if their duties don't' immediately call!" ( and , Kyouko already has been through so much already. She didn't need to hear the ugly truth about witches now)
( with that, Kyouko and sayaka spent a fun rest of the afternoon together. Kyouko showed off her moves at her favorite dance game at the arcade, and got to hear sayaka 's beautiful voice first hand at karaoke. It was night time as they strolled by the river, finally friends. Both had an odd feeling a bit , especially kyouko. Why was she feeling warm again, so close to this girl who annoyed her so much before? Sayaka spoke up)
" so, if I can ask. If you lost your home, where are you living now?"
( Kyouko shrugged) " wherever I feel like it. I get around, I manage just fine. Gavin' magic helps."
" it's wrong to steal and break in."
" whatever, miss high and mighty justice." ( the redhead frowned) " besides. What else do I do? They'll just put me in some crappy foster care system. ... Who ever would want to take me in anyway... The wild daughter of the mad priest who killed himself..."

[And then, she paused. She really wanted to offer Kyoko a place to stay at her house, but she couldn't for the life of her see any way her parents would say yes.]
[But on the other hand...]
...Hey, Kyoko - What would you think of camping out in an old house my granny used to live at? My family still owns the place, I think, and it's not very far from here, but it's next to a abandoned factory and sort of isolated...
[Kyoko looked at her, blinking.]
.......Huh. By camp out you mean - Oh, no electricity or running water or gas, I bet?
[Sayaka got red in the face, then.]
- Probably not, yeahhhh. But if it's granny's house, I have the keys already, soo...

[Kyoko said, and then, she made herself smile.]
...So - You did mention something about a house I might be able to camp out at, right?
- Oh, yeah, of course!
[Sayaka said, making herself smile too, and then took Kyoko to the old house her granny had used to live in. It was still in fairly good shape, though it was dusty, and some of the doors rattled.]
...Here, you can have the spare key. I can't figure out how to get the gas and water and electricity and stuff turned on without my parents noticing, though...
[Kyoko grinned at that.]
