[Madoka said, grinning, and then, the girls introduced themselves to each other.]

...Well, I am your Sempai I suppose, but on the other hand - I do wish there were more students in my House, I really do...

[Mami sighed. Madoka perked up at that.]

- Oh! Which House are you in, Mami-Sempai? I've heard so many things about the Houses...

[Mami looked a bit embarrassed, then.]

...Well, um...It's...My House had been non-existant for generations until I entered this Academy, actually, and and was very confused to begin with when the Magical Pillar placed me there, but...

[Nagisa laughed at that.]

- But Mami-Neesan, it's not like you're all alone anymore - I'm a honorary member of the House of Dream-Shards too, right?

[Madoka and Homura sweatdropped a bit at that. The House of what?]

[Mami sighed a bit when she saw that, but then, she smiled again, gamely.]

...It's a very minor House, I'm afraid, and we share quarters with all the other minor Houses, but I think Shards is the best House, even so!

" well, It would be nice to end up there" ( madoka aaid)
" so far its just me and a few other girls. Including my little sister Nagisa and kyouko over there) ( mami motioned towards the redhead by the lake) " oktavia would like to join as well, but being a mermaid, !its abot hard for her to move on land , and we haven't found a working spell yet to give her legs or something"
" maybe a broomstick?" ( 'madoka suggested). " a mermaid witch? Thats neat!"

A broomstick? But how? I mean, I suppose I could ride it sidesaddle, but that doesn't sound very stable...

[The mermaid girl said, poking up her head toward them - But then, she blinked.]

...What the heck!? Kaname Madoka, is that you!?!?

[Madoka's mouth dropped open, then.]

- Sa - Sayaka-chan!?

[Madoka raced down to the lake to give her old friend a hug, then.]

...Yeah, yeah, this is the same old Oktavia Sayaka Sendekoff at your service, ha ha ha -

[The blue haired girl said, laughing, and hugged Madoka back, but then poked at her fish tail, a bit self consiously.]

- Though, um, I wasn't a mermaid the last time I saw you, I'm pretty sure?

"I don't know?" (madoka sighed) "sorry Sayaka, I don't mean to fogert something important about my child hood best friend,"
"It's ok, Madoka" (the mermaid chuckled) "As it turns out, I was always meant to be a mermaid. Destiny, in my blood. A few days ago at the ball, I just became like this after I fell in the pond, though the scales started appearing on my legs earlier.) (she stretched out) "I'm fine. I've gotten used to it."

[Madoka looked at Sayaka's mermaid tail, then, and slowly put her fingers on it.]

- You're very pretty like this, Sayaka-chan...

[Pat pat pat!]

...Thanks, Madoka! Ha ha, that tickles!

[Sayaka laughed - and then, she sighed.]

- Oh, and I'm not allowed to try to change back to human form, or even put on a temporary transform spell until I've been fully stabilized as a mermaid, the witch doctors say - And that could take any time from a few weeks till an year or something!

[Madoka smiled and gave her another hug, then.]

...,Oh, that's OK, Sayaka-chan - Maybe we could just enchant a chair or something, so you can float around more comfortably? Or maybe we could enchant some kind of big barrel - We could put some water inside it, so you wouldn't dry up or anything!

[And then, she tilted her head with a smile.]

Though maybe we should ask the teachers first - You're probably not the first student who suddenly went mermaid, right? I mean, this Magical Academy has existed for more then a 1000 years, after all!

" hm. Probably." (. Sayaka sighed and flopped) " im still most likely am probably going to be one of the weirder ones..,"
" hey. Dont let it get to you!" ( kyouko turted) " so what if youre like a fish! Youve got of ither important facts about you!"
". Shes right!" ( madoka nodded wagerly) " youre brave and strong and pretty and so talented!"
(Mami bodded) ". I heard you have both water wlemental magic and musicalmagic"

Oh yes, I do, but, ahh, um...I can't control either of them very well yet at all, I'm afraid...

[Sayaka laughed, red-faced.]

Oh, you'll get the hang of it in no time, I'm sure! Water magic and musical magic are supposed to go well together, after all - Or so the old tales about mermaids and sirens say, anyway.

[Aand that was when there was a pop and a burst of light - And then, something that looked like a old fashioned rocking chair appeared right in front of them!]

...So I hear there's a mermaid girl in need of a magical floating chair or some such? * Achoo!*

[Mami stared at the very dusty critter sitting on the chair thing, then.]

- Oh, poor Seven - You're so dusty!

[And then, she took a kerchief out of her pocket, and started to wipe him off.]

...So this is something for mermaids, huh?

[Madoka giggled and petted Seven] "hello there!"

[Seven said, laughing, and headbutted her hand.]

...So I hear Niner has been making a pest of himself as usual?

- I'm afraid so...

[Madoka said with a sigh.]

...I've told him and told him that I'm not going to make any kind of Contract with him, no matter how much of a power boost he could give me if he officially became my Magical Mascot. buuut...

[And that was when a bell rang.]

All new students, please come to the Main Hall - Your placement tests are due to start in 30 minutes!

[Sayaka and Kyoko looked at each other, then. Sayaka put her hand on the magical chair, then, and quickly made it float into the air.]

...OK, I've gotten the hang of this, I think. So now, we're going to do some kind fo magical tests, and then the Piller is going to place us in the Houses that we're supposed to be most suited to, right?

- That's how it's supposed to work, yes.

[Mami said with a smile, and then waved to all of them.]

...And now you should all follow me, because I know all the best shortcuts in the Academy by now I think, ha ha ha -
