Clearly he proabbly would not have blue hair, and his name might not be the same. but surely he ocud still be a prince, right? even the other one had completely jilted her, now she could have a chance here! unleess that Camille girl interfered! No, she would not let that happen!] "Anyway, I am glad we were brought together like this! and I forguve you for that silly curse you put on me a few years ago. Let bygines be bygones!" [Camille took Gwneodlen's hands, her eyes shinign earestly] "I can tlel we are going to be the best of friends!"
[Gwendolen stared at her, and wrenched her hand away.]

[Camille plopped herself down on the other bed.]
The feeling is mutual, alas. But we'll have to put up with each other for about 2 years at least, anyway, right? And probably longer then that, too, but...
[And Gwendolen sighed, nodded, and turned her head away.]
[Things weren't going as planned - But then, when did they ever do go as planned, anyway?]

- Well, we're not officially engaged yet, to be sure - But I am going to marry Garrin, yes.

The thought of it is despicable!!" [Gwendolen's mother comes in, wearing a frown] "Gwendolen, what is the matter this time!" [she notices Camille and seems a bit surprised.] "Ah, camille Haddison? It has been a while." "It has, Mrs Chant." [camille curtsied] "How have you been?" "Fine, I suppose, much has been happening lately. And yourself? My, you are becoming such a lovely young woman." [she glanced between her and her daughter warily. So she was her room mate? This could be promising trouble. Then again, it could be a good challenge and oppuurtunity.] "I see that you have met up again with Gwendolen." "Unfortunately, we have!" [Gwendolen has calmed down her tantrum a bit, but was still fuming] "Mother! I demand to be reassigned a room! I shall not be sharing a dormitory with her!!"
Oh, Gwendolen - Please stop that. This is a finishing school - You're all supposed to be learning how to be proper young ladies, here!
And Miss Haddison seems to be a perfectly nice young lady, anyway.
[And that was when there was a large crash outside the room.]

[There appears to be a girl with a rather odd hairstyle outside in the corridors - It looks like her hair is in two balls on top of her head, and then going down in pigtails.]
[She is also trying to push a cute black cat back into a bag she is carrying. The cat does not seem to approve of this plan, alas.]
"I am a proper young lady! And she is too nice, but I despise her! I can not stand her!" [gwendolen stamps her foot] "Well that is not the beahavior of a young lady, that is the behavior of a young child! You are to stop that!" [her mother scolds]"It is time that you stop that Gwendolen. You know that you can not always have things go your way. Another thing a proper young lady must learn is how to put up patiently with those you do not agree with. Some people I understand well wnough. But really, what has Camille ever done to you! You put that curse on her the day you first met!"
[Camille was distracted by the commotion and goes outside to check.] "Oh hello there! Is that a cat in your bag?"
"It is nice to meet you, Camille!" "It is nice to meet you too! So, I assume you are a student here as well?" "Yes, this shall be my first year. I am pretty excited about this! I was on my way to my room. I think it is right here actually?" "Oh?" [Camille blinks] "How nice! I stay here as well! Come on in! Oh, but be careful, my room mate is a bit of a bad mood..."
[Meanwhile Gwnedolen sits on her bed, shaking a bit] "Because I hate her!" "And why do you hate her?" "Because she is so sweet and perfect and goody! everyone likesher so much! She is even taking Garrin form me! And the other her over in my kingdom was even worse, she ruined everything!!" [Gwneodlen started crying] "She is like my bane!"
[Gwendolen did feel calmed by her mother's words, but she nodded dourly] "When I was queen in the other world. There was another version of her but with green hair. she turned to be some fairy princess. At first she just as sweet and goody goody and iritating, but then she turned out to be quite nasty! She stole my prince, stole my followers, and she completely humiliated me! She ruined everything! In fact, she was the one who transformed me into an animal!" "And you have done nothing to antagonize her?" "No. I put up with her at first..."
"Yes, your cat. Have you filed it under your forms?" "Er, uhm..." Serena blushed "So, may I have permission for Luna then? I take very good care of her! She's spciel to me!"
[Gwendolen sulked" "Tell you about what, exactly?" "About everything that happened then." She took gwnedolen's hands "Please." "I do not want to want to..." "Gwendolen..." She sighed] "fine..." [So she told her mother about her experience in her kingdom. her ruling style, her tutoring, her crush on Prince Kyle, messing with fairies, her rivalry with Michelle. the problems with Allen, before finally inding Garrin.]
"Oh, thank you! So great!" Camille chuckled "I can't do all of it for you, of course. I'm just helping a bit, but these are your papers." [She finally nodded and togetehr they fileld out the forms] "done!"
[Gwendolen's mother listened to what Gwendolen had to say, nodding.]
- Oh, well - You really were much too obvious about some things, I'd say, but on the other hand, you're still young...
[Gwendolen sighed, and nodded, wiping her eyes. Oh, great, she'd actually started to cry a bit while she talked...]
...So, um, Mother...You're not angry with me? [She whispered.]
[Mrs Chant sighed at that.]
- Number One - I'm much too relieved that you're home in one piece now to be angry with you for very long, my dear!
[And then she gave her another hug.]
And anyway, I think you got at least part of your - drive, or fire, or whatever you want to call it from me, anyway. You really have to learn how to temper your fire, though, Gwennie - You remember that saying about fire? They say it's a good servant but a very bad master- and in this case, they're mostly right, I'm afraid.
...Yes, yes, it's easier said then done, but...
[Caroline Chant sighed, then, and then looked at her daughter in the eye.]
- But Gwendolen? Don't mess around with Cat - Eric - Anymore. No matter what.
...He's my son, and your brother, and neither me or your father or - or that damn Chestromanci for that matter - is going to put up with that kind of thing anymore.
You don't mess with family, Gwendolen. All right?
[And in the meanwhile, in the other room...]
[Luna the cat bleeked happily, and nudged Serena's cheek. She was getting to stay here!]
[Serena grinned, and held her out to Camille.]

[Gwendolen was actually drawn back and intimidated by her mother's look. She looked away and shook her head] "No, I am done with him. I will leave him alone now... besides, he hates me now..." [she tried to quell the pang in her heart] "And it is not surprising, after what you have done to him..." [her mother shook her head ] "honestly, sometimes I wonder how life would be if you had never tried to steal his power, or if I managed to stop you in time... all this trouble would have never happened..." [Gwendolen drew back again, tears remerging] "then my fears would have happened! I would have been held back, forgotten, under his shadow!!"
[Camille giggled and petted Luna] "youre very welcome, Luna! It shall be fun! say serena, why don't we go explore the school now?"
[Gwendolen nodded, a bit bitterly.] "3 when I first starting taking his magic, and then 5 when I took possesion of his lives. From those books of darker magic you told me not to read, that I have received from Miss Lucia." "I knew it. Its partially because of her you ended up this way, if she was the one who influenced you. I should have realized it sooner... no, I have, but you did not listen to my warning, that last argument we had..." "I don't want to hear it..." "Well, you have to, Gwendolen!"
[Camille blinked and looked over, munching on her cookie] "Oh? You know that handsome gentleman?" [Serena pouted] "Sort of. We keep seeming to cross paths. " Camille giggled "sounds like fate!" "Unlucky fate! " "Are you sure?"
Well, you wanted me to leave Cat alone, as I recall - And now, I have no choice but to leave him alone, as he wouldn't even talk to me!
- So what is there to talk about, anymore, anyway?
[Her mother sighed at that.]
...Well, the thing is - I think you've gotten much too dependent on the Dark side of the magic arts, Gwendolen...
[Gwendolen made even more of a face at that, and turned away, scowling. The dark arts had served her well up to this point, she thought - And she really was pretty good at them, too, if she said so herself!]
[So why did so many people seem to think she had to go and learn all those mushy sentimental healing spells and stuff like that, anyway? She couldn't for the life of her see how learning how to help other people at the expense of her own magical energies could help improve her life in any way whatsoever...]
[And in the gardens...]
[Serena grimanced.]
Oh, yes - I actually wondered if I was cursed in some ways or something, a couple of times, though Luna didn't seem to think so.
- He keeps seeing me in the most embarrasing situations possible!
[Like when she was late and running off to Mrs Springname's School For Girls, or when she got and especially bad test and was trying to get rid of it by rolling it up and throwing it away, or...]

[And then she blinked, as another person came into view.]

[A tall, statuesque woman who looked like she might be in her early to mid-30s was coming down the path, her long flamboyent red hair trailing behind her like a bright flame.]
[The young handsome man Serena had called Darien blinked, and then turned to the newcomer with a smile on his face.]

[And then he leaned down, and mimed giving her a kiss on her hand while she laughed, delightedly.]

"Well. What if I happen to like Dark magic anyhow, mother? " Gwendolen contended, still not looking at her "I feel it is much more my style with it! " [Gwendolen's mother had heard the saying that sometimes people were born dark. She still refused to believe that about Gwendolen, no matter what she did. Gwendolen was a very lovely girl with so much potential. But the malice she sometimes glimpsed in her eyes seemed very real. The hurt as well. sometime almost... There could be danger of locking up someone with emotions like that. No, she would not let that happen! She couldn't change who her daughter was though. Maybe, she just needed to point her another way...] "fine then. Maybe so. You do have potential for it anywya. though you need to control it. Once you get it back anyway, since your magic is on probation now. " "do not remind me." gwendolen replied bitterly. She hated this. She was a normal, non magic user now! her mother put a hand on her shoulder "But gwendolen, don't you think you can use for talents to help certain people, those you care about? what about your family, your friends? (even though she knew she did not really have friends yet) ..What about Garrin? and surely there are others you like?"
[Serena scoffed and turned away] "Let;s just leave. Oh, let us check out the tea room perhaps! I could use some cakes!" "Cakes would be yummy!" [the two ran off to the tea room, Luna the cat bouncing in Serena's bag. There were alreayd a few other girls there. A studious looking girl was reading a book, a girl with long black hair looking out the window thoughtfully, a tall ponytailed brunette putting down a fresh plate of cookies and a blond with a red bow reading a fashion magazine]
[Gwendolen sighed and turned away from her mother, then - It was so damn horrible, her magic being blocked like this! She'd have been tempted to call those Mirror things back, if they hadn't been so...Nosy.]
[Yes, that was the right word, right? They kept going on and on about how she was lying to herself, and what she was doing wrong...Or one of them did, anyway.]
[And then she'd gotten so sick, she'd stayed in bed for almost two weeks after she'd gotten home, shaking and having nightmares. What in the world had that been about, anyway?]
Fine, fine! You can - You can tell the Chestromanci that I'd learn anything he wants as long as he lets me use magic again. Because I will.
[Or she'd pretend to, anyway - Surely she was capable of that, she was Gwendolen Chant, after all. How difficult could healing and purifying spells be, anyway?]

[She muttered under her breath, took a deep breath, and turned toward Darien, plastering a smile in place.]
Oh, Lord Darien - Please let me introduce you to my daughter, Serenity Shadowgate...
[Darien's mouth dropped open at that - Lady Beryl had a daughter??? ]
[And that was when the pink haired girl actually caught sight of Darien, and her mouth dropped open.]
[Caroline tutted] "I shall try to talk to him about that then. I can not promise anythign though. In the mean time, you will have to make do, and behave yourself. " her look softened a bit] "But still gwendolen, try to find some enjoyment. These are important years of your life. I am sure you will find your real dream, what really makes you happy."
[a few people nearby heard her exclamation and looked over in surprise. Papa? Surely he was still too young to be the father of a girl her age. But Lord Darien smiled kindly and knelt down] "A pleasure to meet you, little lady. but I'm sorry, I very much doubt that I am your father. " She peered closer and looked downcast "Oh... I guess not. I'm sorry. you just look like him." "Well he is lucky to have an adorable sweet child like you."
[Darien twitched at that. Oh, no, had the poor girl's father passed away or something?]
- Oh - I'm so sorry, Miss...
[Rini gulped.]
No, no, you don't have to be sorry! And...Um...You're not so much like Papa as I thought, anyway.
[And then she made herself grin.]
- You're much younger, just for one thing....
[Lady Beryl humphed at that - She really didn't want to be reminded of Lord Darien's age and the age difference between them, right now, to be frank.]
... Rini, Rini- Just go back to your Nanny now, all right!?
[And then she sighed a bit.]
- What if they call for you early, and you aren't there?
[Rini rolled her eyes, then.]
If they call for me, they'd expect you to be with me, wouldn't they? Mother?
...But I should go, I suppose...
[And then she smiled at at Darien, though the smile did look a bit fake.]
It was good to meet you, Lord Darien - Fare you well!
[And she gave him a strangely proper curtsy, and went back the way she came, stamping on the ground the whole while, and kicking at some of the flowers sometimes.]
[Beryl watched her go, sighing.]
...Ugh... You know, Lord Darien - I love that girl to pieces, but...
[And then she turned around, theratically.]
- She's so annoying, sometimes - Was I really that bad when I was young?
[And then she grimanced, comically.]
...And then I remember she'd going to be grown up before I know it, and she's going to get married or something, and then one day, she's going to say "Oooh, Mother! You're going to be a Grandmother now, isn't that wonderful!?!?"
And I'll have to grin and bare it, and...
[Lord Darien nearly burst out laughing, watching her antics.]
...Oh, Lady Beryl, don't worry about it - I'm sure you'll still be beautiful and striking, even if you do become a grandmother!
[And inside Gwendolen's room...]
[Gwendolen nodded, grudgingly.]
Oh, all right, all right, Mother - I'll try to think about what you said.
[And then she sighed, and hugged her Mother again.]

[After a while of skulking about, Eventually rini brightened up when she saw someone she recognized" "Hi Olivia!" [A frail looking girl with short dark hair who was a bit older then her looked up and smiled] "Oh, Rini! I am happy to see you!" [the two friends hugged. In the distance, Rini could see Olivia's godparents, famous musician Michelle and Famous racer Amara. rini wondered if her own godmother, Ms Trista was around as well.]
"Yes, that is a good idea." [Caroline patted her head] "you go along now. I shall see you at supper." [she anxiously watched her go off, hoping she would behave] [Gwendolen eventually made her way to the tea room. Her lower mood worsened when she saw Camille] "Great. She is here as well..." [how she longed to curse her again, even a small one. But her magic was gone! Gwendolen growled and pushed over a vase stand in her frustration. It topped into another, which topped into serena, sending her crasing into the book reading girl and the dark haired girl]
[Serena yelped as she crashed into the blue haired girl and dark haired girl.]
- Hey, you! Be careful, will you!?
[The dark haired girl cried out, while the blue haired girl, who'd thrown herself over the book she was reading, just groaned as the ink bottle went flying, spattering ink everywhere.]
[...Well, at least her rather rare and expensive book hadn't seemed to be damanged, but.]
[Camille looked in dismay as the ink splattered all over the bottom of her dress, and several other girls clothes as well.]
...Oh, no!
[She then gave Gwendolen a good hard look. Gwendolen sneered back at her, and then turned around, looking nonchalent.]
- Why, why, Camille - What just happened, here? Your friend must be one of the clumsiest people I've ever met, and trust me, I've met some clumsy people...
[The tall girl with the cookies, on the other hand, had stood up, her eyes narrowed.]
- Hey, you.
[She said, and then she marched straight over to Gwendolen.]
...Yeah, I mean you, Young Miss.
[Serena stared at her, then - The tall brunette must have been at least a head taller then the other blonde girl was.]
[Gwendolen almost looked afraid as the tall girl loomed over her. then she regained her innocent smile]"Hm? what was what all about?" "You pushed that vase over on purpose! I saw it!" "I don't know what your talking about." Gwendolen chimed, starting to walk away "Accidents happen with clumsiness. Maybe you should clean up the mess now."
[Camille bit her lip. She had been willing to give Gwendolen another chance, especially for Garrin's sake. She was sure, and least she wished she was, that she was a good girl after all. But, it seemed hard. There were times she just seemed so wicked! Even before her life got scrambled]
Gwendoen glared up at the tall girl, feeling intimidated again, but shoved her hand off of her shoulder "I Do not think so! I shan't and you can not make me!" With that she strode off again. Camile sighed "Just leave her bbe. I'll have a talk with her later..." Serenea blinked "Huh? hey Camille, that girl looks just like your boyfriend Garrin!" "Yes, she does. Tat is because, she is his twin sister..."

"Cakes would be yummy!" [the two ran off to the tea room, Luna the cat bouncing in Serena's bag. There were alreayd a few other girls there. A studious looking girl was reading a book, a girl with long black hair looking out the window thoughtfully, a tall ponytailed brunette putting down a fresh plate of cookies and a blond with a red bow reading a fashion magazine]
