[He grabbed the phone from Rin, nearly dropping it in his haste.]

[His mother blinked again on the other side of the phone.]
...Len-kun...What happened?
[And then her eyes narrowed.]
- Don't try to say nothing did, or everything is OK, Len - I'm your mother, and you don't sound like everything is fine at all!
"I just had a bad nightmare..." Rin put a hand on his forehead "sounded like it. And you might be feveriish. Maybe youre coming down with something." "Yeah..maybe...." "Anything else?" their mother demanded, but her worry obvious "well, there was a riot at the concert last night...
[Len groaned. Uh, oh - Mentioning this to his mother of all people hadn't been the best idea he'd ever had, now that he actually had time to think about it...]
- Oh, no, no! It was at one of Miku's concerts, and it wasn't really a riot - I mean, nobody actually got badly hurt, as far as I know, even if some people did get taken to the hospital because of all the excitment...

So how's your research going? You were going to check out all those legends about Queen Verena and how the Gold Kingdom tried to blame her for witchcraft, right?
[their mother sighed as well] "my research is going very well. I am finding more and more evidence and informations that some of the legends really did exist. But there is still not yet enough for conclusive history, it is as if some event was erased from important history. though just how much of it is true, as there is a lot of supernatural elements, metions of witches and mermaids and fairies and an odd white creature that could grant wishes..."

" "what about tht animal on the statue?" rin asked, looking a little unsure "that little fairy animal that could grant wiishes, supposedly. Certainly it was just imaginary, but one of the children gave the description to the artist. Ah, here are scans of paitings of some of the other pepolle involved with her. This is the queens cousin, Princess Humility. And this is their friend, the duchess of the Gold kingdom, Marianna Candleoro de Pontiac."

I'll show you the better images when I see ou next time. I might be coming home in a few days." "Oh great! " "We miss you!" [they tlked some more about how their lives and school were going, Len never mentioned the magical girls or that kyubey"

[And then, the connection clicked off. Rin and Len's mother looked at her phone for a moment, and then put it away.]
[She had a strangely uncomfortable feeling about how things were going, though she couldn't figure out why for the life of her. Why, her research was going swimmingly, and her children seemed to be mostly doing OK, too, so - What could be the problem?]
[And then she thought about the photos she'd tried to send to Rin and Len, and grimanced a little. Young Prince Kyle looking a bit like Kaito-kun was one thing, but... The other portrait was bothering her a bit, now that she thought about it, she did have to admit.]

'As Nagisa finished her food , the doctor gave her permission to get up and about, and informed her that hermother was awake and able to have visiots. Nagisa gave a cheer at this and turned to mami "You should come meet her!" "Ah, I suppose, if you really want me to..." "I do! Can she, doctor?" the doctor said yes and they went to Nagisa's mother's rom. Her mother was a lovely enough woman, though frailed by sickness. Still she smiled warm;y at the sight of her daughter and took her in her arms in embrace"Good morning Nagisa" "hi Mama!" As they talked together, mami watched with a miled, though she felt a subdeuedpain in memory of her own mother... "Oh mama, this is my new friend and sempai Tomoe Mami, !"

Well that sounded conviningcing, right? and it was fairly true if considering magical girls an activities club. they would have to find a real one to join, if needed. Her mother chuckled "Oh? Well good for you! I'm glad you're getting to go out and enjoy yourself. Hm, does this group involve hose magical girl adventures you were telling me about?"

...You know, Nagisa-chan? Now that I've thought about it some more - I think that trying to sew our own costumes would be an even better idea! What do you think?
"But Nagisa, wenre't yo wearig a costume the other day and ou said you were a magical girl?" her mother asked, hdining her sudden sadness. yes, she knew she probably wouldn't last until the halloween of next year, and little nagisa was too ill to celebrate the last halloween. That was why the hospitals decided to throw a little halloween arty soon, even though it was spring. "Oh yes, right!" nagisa said "But, we're talking about some extra accesories we need for it!"

- Hmmm...To put these on the tree, or not - That is the question?

and meanwhile, at a nearby funeral home... the preparations were going up for the funeral of a certain flower loving teenage girl. And as with funerals, thre was much grief, perfect for attracting a witch. The area began to warp and shift as the wicth labrynth crept in... Gertud admired the assortments of flowers put up in this place as Anthony dotted about, but was suddenly drawn to a cetain flower she felt a connwction to. So beautiful and placed in a box. Still perfectly preserved, almost looking like she was merely aleep, well dressed, her favorite rose and butterflies accersories... Gertrud draped her vines around her and let herself slip back into grief seed form and sank into her chest with a dark glow... 'Hanako''s eyes flew open
"We dont't know how it happened!" the funeral director said sounding panicked "This fog came in and I and the other employees suddenyl blanked out, next thing we knew we were about to talk off a bridge. Apparently we were in some sort of trnace. Ad when we got back, your sister's body was gone, and there were rose vines where she was. Of course the police are on the case," Hanako's bother let out a moan "Thia is bad... Oh bu the funeral is scheduled in 2 hours, what do we do...
...Can we do it with a closed casket or something, do you think?
[And in the meanwhile...]
[Mami had gotten dressed up in her funeral clothes, too, and was now waiting outside the Minagishi house, dressed all in black, with a small elegant black bag in her hands.]

[Mami smiled at her, and then looked at the middle aged woman with her. She was pretty sure the lady was one of the nurses at the hospital Nagisa-chan lived at, even though she couldn't remember her name at the moment.]
[And so she leaned over and whispered -]
...Ahem...About the funeral money...
[The nurse nodded, briskly, and took out an envelope with some money in it.]
They headed over to the funeral home. there was a fairly big turn out, of Hanako's family and frieds. Among them wasMiku Hatsune and her cousin gumi, who was friends with Hanako in the gardening club. Miku looked concern. She knew a witch had visited earlier, and she saved the employees here from being cursed
- Hatsune-san! I didn't expect you to be here, too...
[Miku looked at her, and opened her mouth - ]
[And that was the very instant that a minivan came driving up, and Hanako's father came tumbling out of it, almost literally.]
- Minagishi-san! Be careful!
[Nagisa blinked as she saw a nurse she knew from the hostital pull a wheelchair out of the minivan, and then run up to him.]
...I don't...need a wheelchair...
[The nurse sighed.]
- Minagishi-san. Please, no, you do, trust me on this...
[And then, she tried to help him into the wheelchair -]
[Just as Hanako's father caught sight of Nagisa, and went bone white.]
[Nagisa groaned as she saw his expression change. Oh, no - Not again! She had no idea what she'd do if poor Hanako-san's father collapsed again because of her, she really didn't...]

the preparations were going up for the funeral of a certain flower loving teenage girl. And as with funerals, thre was much grief, perfect for attracting a witch. The area began to warp and shift as the wicth labrynth crept in...
Gertud admired the assortments of flowers put up in this place as Anthony dotted about, but was suddenly drawn to a cetain flower she felt a connwction to. So beautiful and placed in a box. Still perfectly preserved, almost looking like she was merely aleep, well dressed, her favorite rose and butterflies accersories... Gertrud draped her vines around her and let herself slip back into grief seed form and sank into her chest with a dark glow...
