[Hanako tried to wash off her gem with the seed, siging, feeling a bit of relief. She would deal with rin's rudeness later. "Well then, let's take care of the witch!" [The witch named Claudia shrieked and swooped down at them. The battle began. Len watched aghast. This was an odd dream. And it really was like one of those magical girl scenes. Ah yes, Kyubey remembered this one. She wished to be a sucessful chemist. Of course she did end up as what humans considered a 'mad scientist' , eded up with a terrible accident with acids before falling into despair and becoming her witch Claudia...]
[Rin groaned as she saw that the blobs had actually managed to melt off part of her Magical Girl outfit, burning holes through some of the ribbons and her shoulder guard.]
...Well, damn. Be careful, everybody - This one looks like it'll be more difficult then I thought it'll be at first...
[Hanako and Miku both nodded at that, though Miku did think it a bit strange that Rin-chan seemed to have so much experience about this kind of thing.]
[So just when had she made the Contract, anyway?]
[And then, the three Puella Magi attacked Claudia in a full frontal attack!]
[Kyubey, in the meanwhile, blinked as he saw one of Claudia's Familiars go creeping out of the Witch Barrier. He turned away from Len, following the Familiar with his beady red eyes - How odd, that a Familiar would run away at a time like this of all thing...]
[And that was when he realized that the Familiar was very near to being upgraded enough to have a Grief Seed of it's own.]
[Hmmm...So it probably could survive on it's own with very little problems, but...]
[Len turned to kyuubey] "what are thoe things, where are we? so, maybe this is a dream so it doesnt matter, but still..] Kyubey flicked its ears casually "That is a witch, and her familiars. A witch is a being created from despair. As for this place, it is her domain, a distortion in space. Humans could have the misfortune of stumbling into a witch's lair, and seldom make it out. you are fortunate that your sister and friend are magical girls who are destined to battle these witches."
[Hanako noticed the familiar crawling away and it's growth] "oh no you don't!" [She summoned a large flower to gwallow it up. It did take a up a good portion of her energy. But even worse, the familair was not high enough point to leave a grief seed. she groaned.] "why, is it the point to kill familiars... if I don't get anything from it, and when I do it's not much..." [Rin and Miku continued battling. Claudia attacked with sprays of acids, and liquid tentacles]
- And what, you're supposed to be the Magical Girl Team's Magical Mascot or something?
[Kyubey looked up at him, snickering.]
...Something like that, yes. Real Magical Girls don't usually fight as teams, though, as a rule...
[And in the meanwhile, where the battle was taking place...]
[Miku stared at Hanako, forgetting for a moment she was in the battlefield.]
- But Hanako-san! What if you just let a Familiar go, and they went and ate somebody or something?
[Hanako groaned, and stood up, staggering.]
...Oh, who cares, there're always some Witches or Familiars preying on ordinary people, anyway - Why shouldn't I wait until they level up properly? It's not like normal people ever did anything for me, anyway!
[Miku bit her lip at that.]
- But Hanako-san...What about your family? And friends? Aren't they normal people, too?
[Rin, in the meanwhile, was biting her lip, remembering something from her former life - They'd been a pack of Puella Magi who had managed to starve off the end for a rather long while by feeding the people they didn't like to Familiars and harvesting them when they were ripe...]
[But no, she didn't have time to worry about that now, damn it.]
...Hey, the two of you! You can have your heart to heart later - Just come over here and finish the fight now, all right!?
That doesn't sound like those TV shows Rin loves so much at all, though...
[And in another part of the Witch Barrier...]

[Rin, in the meanwhile, was going after the Witch, sighing inwardly.]
- Will you two just concentrate on what you're supposed to be doing, for a change!?
[And then, the Witch went down, sliced to bits by a storm of magical ribbons. Rin sighed again as she grabbed the Grief Seed, and the Witch Barrier started to dissolve around them.]
[And then, she threw it toward Miku with a grimance.]
...Here, Miku, you can have this this time, though I don't know why, really - I did most of the work defeating the thing, after all!
[after she tossed it over and the barrier fully disappeared and she turned back into her normal self, Rin's eyes suddeny rolled bak and she fell to the ground unconcious. "Rin!" Len ran over and picked her up "Whats wrong!@" Afetr a few minutes, she stirred and opened her eyes. She looked confused "Hey Len... What happened? i think I passed out, after that big brawl broke out..." The police had already arrived, and all the audience had fallen unconisou
[Len asked Rin. Rin shook her head, mumbling something to herself.]
- No, I don't remember, and I don't wanna remember, either -
[And then she paused, her hand to her mouth. What in the world was this?]

[Len sighed, realizing that the white thing had somehow managed to disappear without a trace while he was talking with Rin.]
- I'll - I'll take you home now, OK?
[And in the meanwhile...]
[Miku had checked to see that her manager was all right, and was now quickly following Hanako out of the concert area, to the other side of the park. She was a bit worried about her fans, to be sure, since half of them still seemed to be unconcious and the other half looked like they were really out of it, but there wasn't anything she could do for them now - And to be honest, she really didn't want to talk to the police right now. What was she supposed to tell them, anyway? They'd think she was nuts, if she told them about the Witches and everything...]
[Hanako sighed after a while, and turned toward Miku, her arms crossed.]
...Shouldn't you be going back there, and dealing with the mess and everything? I mean, it was your concert, right?

...I...I think I'm just going to have to tell them I got a stomachache all of a sudden, and was stuck in the bathroom or something...

[And then, she smiled a bit, though the expression did look a bit forced.]
...Come on, you're an Idol Singer, right? Idol Singers aren't supposed to do such mundane things like go to the bathroom in the first place, I believe!

- Oh, sure, and we're always supposed to be perfect in every way, too, and never get acne or a bad hair day - We're supposed to be every fan's fantasy girlfriend or something, after all!
[And then she sighed, looking up at the night sky.]
...It's almost like there's an drama character called "Hatsune Miku, Idol Singer" or something like that, and I'm the actress playing her - Except that I have to keep on playing her all the time, and I never, ever can get enough time for myself.

Ah, Sometimes she wished she could keep her happy memories colleted so she would never forget them, more so than photos or videos....]
[meanwhile Hanako had arrived back at her mansion, skulking back to her gardens. They were gorgeous , lots of flowers, especially roses. She lay among them, careful not to crush anyy,feelimg a bit better in their presence . "Hey there, Anthony..." She picked her her little pet who was so white and puffy he resembled a cotton ball, and whom she had put a fake mustache on .
[Anthony trotted after her, really looking like a walking cotton ball. Most of the servants ignored her as she went though, though some seemed a bit apprehensice. Word on the grapevine was that she was starting to get rather creepy and into suspicious activities. she found the snacks and fed them to her pet ] "here you go, my friend. Enjoy!"
"Oh, hello Kubey!" She looked up "Boy, what a night. It ws really stressful! I hope things will calm down soon.... By the way. Did you know that my friend Rin Kagamine ws also a magical girl?
[And that was when Hanako's mobile phone rang. Hanako stared at it for a couple of moments, and then put it to her ear with a grimance.]
...What? How could you be in that much debt already - Oh, Papa, don't be an idiot, I told you to sell your company or close it or something -
[She listened for another couple of minutes as her father talked to her, and nearly threw the phone to the floor.]
- Well, of course the banks wouldn't help you, they're in the business of making money, not losing money!
[And then, she grimanced at the phone again.]
...Oh, fine, fine. This is the very last time, though, you get it? You aren't even going to be able to pay your employees their severance pay at this rate!
[Hanako groaned again as the phone clicked off. What the fuck was wrong with her father? He hadn't used to be so...so...]
[Anthony came up to her and meowed again, then. She looked into his eyes, and almost started to cry.]

- Oh, her? I did indeed - I hadn't expected to see her here, though, I must admit!
[He then looked up at her, and tilted his head.]

[Hanako picked him up and returned to the garden, taking a seat in her favorite red chair, trying to relax again among the presence of her beautiful gardens. Why were things going so difficult lately? At first they went great after her wish a while back. The wish to revive her motoher's gardens, and they would be even more splendid then before, and that she could bring life to other gardens. That began her exciting life as a magical girl and her dream gift of automatically mkaing flowers grow whenever she wished. As she began mroe skileld, so did her confidence, and even her beauty. It was great. She was like a awkward caterpuillar that had blsosmed into a beautiful butterfly. But lately, there seems to have been mounds of bad luck, and she felt tired more easily. What was happening? her thoughts were interupted by the sight of some of her father's employees and some suspicious men milling about the garden, taking pictures and movig some stuff away] "H-hey! stop it! What are you all doing! and you can't be here!" "Oh sorry Hanako. But you know business is going bad and we can't afford to keep up these extravagant gardens, so we have to foreclose and deolish them" [her eyes widened in horror, unable to beleive what she was hearing] "No! You can't!! These are my gardens!! These were my mother's gardens!!" "Sorry kid, it has to be done. theyre just a bunch of plants after all" "Probably cultivated for so cheap too since the mother was having an affair wth the gardener,,," another man muttered
Miku blinked "You mean, like a cute boy dressing as a magical girl and he's so cute you can't tell it's a boy?" her thoughtss turned to Len as that
[Hanako glared at the men, then, feeling the magic raising through her cletched fists.]
...You people get out of here, right this second - Or my father is never going to get the money he needs!
[One of the men laughed at her, then.]
Young Miss - He's not going to be able to keep the company afloat for very much longer anyway, everybody knows that! It was a miracle he managed not to go bankrupt this long, anyway...
[And that was when Hanako's eyes went scarlet, dark energies fizzling around her.]
...Back. Off.
[And then, she threw some wads of money at the men, using her powers to teleport them into her hands from her safe. The men stared at her, their eyes wide - Where had all that money come from, anyway???]
- I am buying this house and those gardens from my father as soon as it's legally possible, and by that, I mean tommorow. So for now - Take that money, and git, you arseholes!
[She waited until the men had taken the money and gone, and then went back to her bedroom, laughing helplessly as she remembered how those men had run away wide-eyed, clutching the wads of money to their chests.]
[...And they'd called her a monster, too. Ha ha ha, she risked life and limb on an almost weekly basis protecting all those stupid normal people from Witches, and then they went and called her a monster...]
[And in the park...]
[Kyubey laughed.]
- Oh, no, no, I meant a Magical Girl who was actually male!
[He then tilted his head again.]
...Though I do supposed that, in that case, I should call him a Magical Boy.
[And then he sighed a bit, and walked up to Miku.]
...It's just that human languages are so needlessly complicated, you see. Teenage human females are still called girls, but teenage human males can get so angry and upset if you call them boys...
( after lounging on her bed for a while, hanako stood back up and flung open the windows " come Anthony! I am in the mood for the hunt!" ( he fluff ball squealed and hopped into her shoulder . They descended, gently carried by rose vines she had summoned, and off they went in search of more witches.
" oh! Yes of course ! " miku nodded " do you mean to say you offer contacts to Boys as we'll?"
[Rin, in the meanwhile, was tossing and turning in her bed.]
...What the hell do you think you're doing, you...
[Nobody realized Hanako and Anthony had just jumped over the Kagamine house.]
- Witches, Witches, where are you~
[Hanako softly sang to herself, a slightly demented look in her eyes...]
[Kyubey laughed again, actually looking like he meant it for a change.]
- Oh, most of my Contractees are girls, nowadays, but I still don't mind offering the occasional boy a Contract, either, if the conditions are right...

[Hanako finally picked up a trail and followed it eagerly, eventually reaching the hosptal. Ah, an easy feeding ground for witches. Hanako delicately leapt up rheough a window, finding herself in a childs hosspital room. There was a pale haired little girl holding a pink and rown and red plush doll, sitting up in bed and looking at Hanako in awe. "Hey! You're the pretty onee-chan who showed me the flowers and cattepillar and butterfly the other day!" She exclaied "Ah, yes of course. I remember you. Nagisa right." "Uh-huh! Nagisa Mommoe!" "Wht are you doing here in the hospital?" the girl did look rather weak. Nagisa's smile faded "Im here because I became sick, like my mommy. But, the doctors will make us better! and then we can eat sweets and cheese again!" She looked over Hanako brghtening up again"Youre dressed all pretty, and you came in on a magic flower! Ar eou a fairy?" "Not quite. I am a magical girl"
"Well, it would make sense for him to join Rin. And he is involevvd now that he witnessed. So sure" Miku scratched her head . It would be fun and helpful, if Len joned, on one hand. On the other hand, it was difficult, and she didnt wnat the twins to go through that]
[And in the meanwhile, Hanako's Father was walking down the corridors of the hospital, groaning.]
[Was his daughter actually planning to throw him to the wolves if he didn't sell her that entire house, gardens included?]
[...Well, actually, he did know how much she loved those gardens, and he wouldn't have even thought of selling the house in the first place if his financial situation hadn't been so dire, but...]
[But anyway - For now, he had to see the doctor. His ulcer was acting up again, and so was his arthrites...]
[And anyway - As long as it was his daughter who brought it, it wasn't like they were losing the house entirely, right? And though he really was a bit worried about where and how she was getting all that money from...]
[But no, no, he didn't have time to think about now. Doctor first, worry later - He couldn't afford to collapse now, after all!]
[And in the gardens...]
[Kyubey looked up at Miku again, smiling.]
- But Miku - Kagamine Rin is a Magical Girl, already!
[And then he tilted his head again, trying to look "cute" - He did understand the concept, if not very well.]
...Don't you think they'd be better off it they could fight together? They're twins, after all, right?
( Nagisa leaned forward, some excitement piqued ) " a magical girl? Really? Cool!) " yes yes, very..." ( hanako murmured in a disinterested way, trying to sense the direction of the witch. She had no time to deal with this innocent, naive child, who would. Never be able to handle the life of a magical girl.. ) " excuse me I must deal with something..." And off she went, leaving Nagisa confused. Why did she act all brusque and cold? This wasn't the gentle girl who explained to her more about the beauty of nature. Maybe she wasn't feeling we'll? She die look rather haggard and out of it...
" we'll that's true." Miku nodded " we'll talk to them tomorrow about it. It's getting late and we all had a hug night "
[Hanako walked down the hospital corridors, Anthony sitting on her shoulders, whistling off-key as she walked.]

[Hanako sang out softly, giggling, while Anthony meowed softly. She didn't realize that both her and her cat were starting to look very strange indeed...]
[And in the meanwhile, Hanako's father was looking around, mopping his brow.]
[What in the world was going on, here, he'd been to this hospital 3 times this year already, how in the world could he get lost???]
[But lost he was, apparently. He grimanced and rubbed his eyes, looking at the signs on the door - Great, they didn't even look like they were supposed to be written in Japanese anymore.]

[And then, he stopped dead as he heard somebody laugh.]

- You think so? I thought I might try and go talk to him today, but...
[Curious, Nagisa slipped out of her bed and decided to follow her. Her stomach still let out a pang of hunger; Ever since she had gotten sick her diet had been strickly limited, no more of her favorite treatts, sweets and cheese. It was distressing. She noticed a few other patients ambling along, looking as if they were sleewalking. they all had what looked like a small marking of a cloud upon their necks. Among them was her mother.] "Mama? What are you doing up? " The child tugged on her hospital gown] the doctors said you need to get some rest to get better!" [the doctors were nice enough for the first part, on the outside, but they got scary with their many needles and pills and masks... Nagisa felt then the air felt heavy and strange. Like an invisible loud of dark emotions. There were faint whispers, trying to get to her... the air was distornig..] "no! Whats going on!"
"I'm sorry Kyubey... I'll see you tomorrow" [Miku shook her head and headed off to home. She could use a nice bat and sleep. Kyubey shrugged/. Ah well, he could afford to wait a few more hours. He remembered then the other magical girl tonight and how close she was to breaking. It wpuld be tonight, he was sure of it. It would be worth to check in on her and watch.
He followed her tack over to the hospital, a common place for despair. Ah yes, there was a witch here indeed, but not her yet. He could see her slinking about, looking worse for wear. And oh, what was this? That child was quite young, but such great potential he sensed from her! She was already resisting the invitation of the itches curse. Well, he knew whom his next contractee target was going to be.
[Nagisa took a good look at her mother and bit her lip.]
...Are you sleepwalking, Mama?
[More and more people were starting to join the milling crowd. Nagisa looked around them, and grabbed her mother's arm again.]
...Oh, no - It's just like when the Dark Siren came and tried to kidnap everybody with their Siren Song, in the Moonstar series...
[And that was when Kyubey came up to her, looking pensive indeed - He's practiced putting this expression for a long time, and it looks almost real, if nobody looks into his eyes.]
- Hello, Young Miss!
[He whispered to her. Nagisa's eyes widened as he saw him.]
...Whaaaa?
[Kyubey looked up at her, and nodded once.]
...You can see me, right? Well, I hope you can, anyway...
[She then grinned widely, and let go of her mother's sleeve, leaning down at him.]
- You're - You're a Magical Mascot, aren't you! Just like Aurora and Sunflare...
[The white creature in front of her wasn't quite as cute as the Stardogs from the Moonstar series, but he did come pretty close, Nagisa did have to admit.]
[She wanted to pick it up and hug, but her mother drifted away]"No, Mama! Wait!" Nagisa trotted after her as the surrounding area became even more warped, changing from a hospital to a distorded bedroom. Monstroud stiched up plushies danced about the people , tugging at their clothing. The whispers soon sounded like a lullaby]
[Meanwhile Haako had managed to break into the barrier, grinning madly, tearing through any familiars she came across] "I'm almost there, monster!!!"
[Nagisa's mother walked down the corridors. Nothing hurt anymore, and yes, that was her husband's voice, calling to her...]
[Nagisa groaned as her dead father appeared before her, a little baby in his arms.]
Misako, come on - I wouldn't know what to do if Nagisa started to cry!
...Oh, husband...
[Nagisa's mother said, a smile on her lips. Nagisa, on the other hand, groaned again - She barely remembered her Daddy, and now this?]
- Come on, Mama, it's not real, he isn't real and that isn't me, either, please wake up!
[And elsewhere in the Witch Barrier...]
[Hanako paused, as a familiar voice tinkled through the air.]
- Oh, husband, I really missed you, and so did our children!
...You're not going to go away again, right?
[And then, she looked into a room, her eyes widening.]
[Her father was sitting at a table, a hot pot bubbling in front of all of them, with some people who were very familiar indeed. Her deceased mother, looking like she had before she'd gotten sick, and her brother, and Hanako herself -]
[Except that Hanako was a rather creepy doll, while all the other people looked more or less normal.]
[Hanako groaned as she caught sight of a very creepy looking stuffed something with whiskers trying to meow at them from under the table - So that was supposed to be Anthony, eh?]
...Oh, come on, Papa - Anthony wasn't even born when Mama died!
[She caught up to her mother and tugged at her arm] "Mama! Please snap out of it! It's just an illuion!! "She can not hear you" Kyubey said, sitting down on a pillow "She and the other's were put under a witches curse. " "A witche's, curse?" her eyes widened " Yes. They are under a spell. The only way to wake them up is if a magical girl defeats the host witch of this labyrinth." "Oh!" ashe bounced eagerly "I just saw a magical girl here! Miss Hanako!" "Ah yes, I am aware she is here in this location. Ah, there she is."
[Hanako blinked] Wait a minute... Papa? What are you doing here?" [she saw the itch kiss upon him] "oh no... now it's personal!!" she snarled. She caught sight of the witch and charged over with a scream, all power ready

- Will you two just concentrate on what you're supposed to be doing, for a change!?
[And then, the Witch went down, sliced to bits by a storm of magical ribbons. Rin sighed again as she grabbed the Grief Seed, and the Witch Barrier started to dissolve around them.]
[And then, she threw it toward Miku with a grimance.]
...Here, Miku, you can have this this time, though I don't know why, really - I did most of the work defeating the thing, after all!

[Miku had checked to see that her manager was all right, and was now quickly following Hanako out of the concert area, to the other side of the park. She was a bit worried about her fans, to be sure, since half of them still seemed to be unconcious and the other half looked like they were really out of it, but there wasn't anything she could do for them now - And to be honest, she really didn't want to talk to the police right now. What was she supposed to tell them, anyway? They'd think she was nuts, if she told them about the Witches and everything...]
[Hanako sighed after a while, and turned toward Miku, her arms crossed.]
...Shouldn't you be going back there, and dealing with the mess and everything? I mean, it was your concert, right?
[Miku groaned at that.]
...I...I think I'm just going to have to tell them I got a stomachache all of a sudden, and was stuck in the bathroom or something...
[Hanako groaned too, at that.]
- Oh, Miku.
[And then, she smiled a bit, though the expression did look a bit forced.]
...Come on, you're an Idol Singer, right? Idol Singers aren't supposed to do such mundane things like go to the bathroom in the first place, I believe!
[And Miku laughed, too.]
- Oh, sure, and we're always supposed to be perfect in every way, too, and never get acne or a bad hair day - We're supposed to be every fan's fantasy girlfriend or something, after all!
[And then she sighed, looking up at the night sky.]
...It's almost like there's an drama character called "Hatsune Miku, Idol Singer" or something like that, and I'm the actress playing her - Except that I have to keep on playing her all the time, and I never, ever can get enough time for myself.
[Miku looked at Hanako, then, her expression changing into a serious one.]
- But...Hanako-san? ...Um, I know we haven't talked much until now, but...
[And then, she took a deep breath.]

She lay among them, careful not to crush anyy,feelimg a bit better in their presence . "Hey there, Anthony..." She picked her her little pet who was so white and puffy he resembled a cotton ball, and whom she had put a fake mustache on .

[She waited until the men had taken the money and gone, and then went back to her bedroom, laughing helplessly as she remembered how those men had run away wide-eyed, clutching the wads of money to their chests.]
[...And they'd called her a monster, too. Ha ha ha, she risked life and limb on an almost weekly basis protecting all those stupid normal people from Witches, and then they went and called her a monster...]

"Mama? What are you doing up? " The child tugged on her hospital gown] the doctors said you need to get some rest to get better!" [the doctors were nice enough for the first part, on the outside, but they got scary with their many needles and pills and masks...
Nagisa felt then the air felt heavy and strange. Like an invisible loud of dark emotions. There were faint whispers, trying to get to her... the air was distornig..] "no! Whats going on!"
"I'm sorry Kyubey... I'll see you tomorrow" [Miku shook her head and headed off to home. She could use a nice bat and sleep.
Kyubey shrugged/. Ah well, he could afford to wait a few more hours. He remembered then the other magical girl tonight and how close she was to breaking. It wpuld be tonight, he was sure of it. It would be worth to check in on her and watch.
He followed her tack over to the hospital, a common place for despair. Ah yes, there was a witch here indeed, but not her yet. He could see her slinking about, looking worse for wear. And oh, what was this? That child was quite young, but such great potential he sensed from her! She was already resisting the invitation of the itches curse. Well, he knew whom his next contractee target was going to be.
